We must thank the honourable Collector of Vellore district for his keen interest in social and educational activities. He has expressed beautifully that the leather industry should continue to serve the society better for its development.

We have seen the Colector sahib attending many educational institutions and encouraging education among the people particulary the backward and downtrodden.

In one meeting held at Oomerabad he has said with regret that the educational awareness among the Muslim is very low and it needs to be remedied. He has observed the pathetic condition of the poor Muslims with all seriousness and is worried about them. It is really a very praise worthy gesture at the present time when nobody seems to care for anybody in this highly materialistic world. The exceptions are a very few.

The rich industrialist should emulate the example of industrial giants like TATA in establishing industries, hospitals, educational institutions, etc. for the benefit of their staff and working class. It is not a secret that even hospitals have become highly commercial and a labourer cannot approach them at all.

I thank the Collector sahib once again and and feel that more and more people will come forward to express their views in this forum.

I don't know anything about this forum but wish it all the success.

C.ABDUL HAKEEM ENGINEERING COLLEGE
ISLAMIAH COLLEGE,VANIYAMBADI
RAFEEQUE HOSPITAL AMBUR
The list is long.
but what about the responsibility of the government, see the govenment hospitals, the school,
who is accountable for this

I am sorry to say that most of the muslim run colleages in North Arcot are run for commercial purpose only. NOBODY BOTHERS - CARES ABOUT POOR MUSLIMS. I was refused admission (Bsc - Chemistry) in a college in Melvisharan in 1978 because I did not have 2000 rupees to pay donation even though I was academically good. I was forced to waste one year and then I joined Muthurangam Government Arts College in 1979

No. There were no self financing colleges during 1979 - 1983 period. The current self-financing minority colleges/schools should design a plan or system in cooperation with local rich muslims to educate poor muslims. Otherwise, the pathetic condition of muslims of North Arcot will remain same.
