Anyone have info about pelican island? Our houses are right across from the beach and community center. Wondering if they survived.

You must be referring to Lavallette and not Seaside Heights, correct?

Have you contacted emergency personnel there or a neighbor?

Right, Lavallette. We haven't owned the house since my grandmother passed away, but there are so many memories. My mother, sister & I are so upset. I'm not seeing pictures on the web of Lavallette, & am afraid it's because no one can get in there.

I also live in Seaside Park. I understand there were breaches at aprx. 10th or 12th st and also 20th in S. Seaside. "F" St also breached.
We are on "D" St. Ocean block and all we know is that two of the neighbors on the other side of the street and not quite as close to the ocean have been reported to be okay from the outside.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
My sister has a home on F street. Does anyone have more details about the possible breach. Good luck to all. Stay safe.

They piled sand 8 foot high in front of the entrance to the beach. This all washed into the street but the dunes held. Good thing we planted all that dune grass as kids in the 70s and 80s. Sand is everywhere and there was water over the curb to cover the sidewalk but not deep. The bay side is another story. Lots of water in the bayfront homes. Still no power. My brother in law stayed in the house. If I get an update today I will repost.

Even news helicopters do not zoom into Lavallette. Own home near Bay Blvd. border Ortley, no news at all- no sane person in island. Sheriff's office in Toms River told us this morning maybe, next week, big maybe, we can go in. Only access is from bridge to rt.37, which has partial damage. There are sinkholes, power lines down, and still too much flooding. Pray, be safe and happy to be alive. So many of our neighbors live in Lava all year- so sad.

Ocean side fared well in that area. Compared to the rest of the island you should be fine. As of wednesday the homes on streets up to O street and a bit beyond that on the ocean side of central av. were in good shape. Hope this eases your mind.

Ocean side was good in that area as of Wednesday . Houses up and not much visible damage from the outside.
