Kelly Stand homes damaged, washed away - The Manchester Journal

Full story: The Manchester Journal

Most living on the nearly destroyed Kelly Stand Road will likely have to walk to their homes for at least a few weeks, but for Arthur Moffitt, 69, there's no home to walk back to.

Am looking for any infio on Shirley McTernan, a year round resident of the Kelly Stand. Did not get to see her this summer so not sure if she was even there. Her house was the next place up past the former Marshall Wolfe house.

Shirl's entire property suffered very little damage - both the house and workshop are fine. She lost her spring, as the river took a detour around the back of her property. She was safely evacuated before the road went out, and stayed with a friend until power and water were restored. Another friend later walked in and carried her beloved Leo to join her.

I am very sad to report that Aunt Shirl passed away last night. An obituary should appear in tomorrow's paper.

I am very sorry to hear about Shirley passing, we had a long history but had not been up for two years. We will sure miss her wonderful laugh. My Mom and step-dad always visited Marshall wolfe on the Kelly Stand so the whole area has lots of good memories. I will be checking the paeer tomorrow. thanks for posting after such a long time. Ann
