Please provide proof that people are listening to my statements. Thanks.
Know this, black duct tape is easier to remove than the silver duct tape and The Home Depot has multi-packs on sale. You will need them for the potentially dangerous hurricane Ike.
I will provide further recommendations soon. Thanks again and be safe!
Please don't! We have enough other people who talk about this like the stupid storms are sitting on top of us that we don't need you!

I already have my supplies and since I like to get things done AHEAD of time, to me, you are wasting your time! So, take your free ads for Home Depot and go duct tape your windows... PLEASE KNOW... TAPING THEM ON THE INSIDE DOESN'T STOP THEM FROM SHATTERING! GOOD DAY!

I am only an expert in hurricane preparedness. Please pay close attention to Ike and stock up on supplies now, as your local home improvement stores still have items like generators and duct tape. Thanks.

For many years, it seemed as if everyone taped their windows. Why did people stop? I find that interesting.

Take comfort in knowing that the black duct tape comes off much much easier than the silver kind.

As it related to The Home Depot, I do not or have not ever worked for them. I only have one that is near my place of employment. On my lunch break, during hurricane season, I often stop by to see what supplies they have on hand. As a courtesy, I post my findings on forums like these.

Items like black duct tape and generators are in stock, but do not wait until the last minute.

Thanks and be safe. I will post more updates.

I can't Deb I'm shaking with FEAR. I have soiled my undergarments in despair. Now I have to worry about how I'm gonna get this hershey stain out of my pants, on top of the fear of a 60mph killer storm.

I am a bit shocked yet saddened with your declaration. I, too, have had the misfortune of passing gas only to have some fecal matter escape, as well. When it happens in the car, it creates a huge problem, as the butt cheeks are touching and causes the fecal matter to unnecessarily spread around. Its not a huge deal, its just that if you are sitting, it creates a bigger mess which leads to more clean-up time.

Suggestion: If the stain is fresh, I suggest a warm water soak with a vinegar/bleach mix solution.

If the stain is not fresh or has had time to dry, you may consider throwing away your soiled shorts or donating them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

Be safe everyone!

Omigosh! I can't bear to wait for you to update us some more! You nimrod! And people stopped tapping windows because plywood is easier and not as messy! But you go ahead with you black tape and be sure to tape those windows right up... and when that tree comes flying through, isn't reassuring that your glass won't shatter but the branch could swing in and knock you the f out? SWEET!!!

According to the media, a semi-automatic bolt action pump machine gun AK479 UZI-like assaulting rifle with a barrel shroud and bayonet lug, would be able to chop that tree into burning cars and dead babies before it would make it into the window, but your milage may vary if you believe what they said.

<quoted text>The governor is already in control of the state courts, the state police, the state criminal justice bureau, state emergency management and local police, which get their authority from the state to begin with. Therefore, if the governor and the state house and senate already have the power to run the state, what would declaring "martial law" do? Nothing. The governor could declare a "state of emergency" and by doing so suspend bus schedules, state services, close state office buildings, provide relief, put police and national guard on extra duty and impose curfews and state orders to people and state agencies in order to deal with the "state of emergency". As for shooting looters, hell if I know...all I know is that typically private property is not usually protected by deadly force, you better check with your lawyer first before you wind up in prison.
Martial law, on the other hand, is declared by the President of the United States. You will know when the federal government imposes martial law on your state because US Army personnel will be driving your police cars, US Army personnel will be the Jurors sitting in your Jury box, US Army personnel will be the prosecutors in your courts, US Army personnel will be the judges sitting on the bench in your courts, the US Army will have jurisdiction to hear your state's criminal and civil cases, the US Army personnel will be running your jails and prisons and you the individual will be represented in court by a US Army J.A.G. officer.
Go look up martial law if you don't believe me...martial law is when the PRESIDENT of the US suspends habeas corpus in your state or all of the states. It's big difference between a governor of a state declaring an emergency and the Army taking over your state's court system.
Martial law says the army is in charge. Civil liberties are restricted. We are told to stay indoors after a hurricane and people are shot for stealing plywood - something they normally wouldnt get shot for.

Is that not martial law?

Governor Crist send me an E-mail saying, Mr. Drink buy lots a battery supply from Home Depot, and buy 50 cans of Chef Boyardee-Beef-Ravioli in tomato & Meet sauce at Publix, and then you are going to be ok

No, the president declares "martial law" and you'll know when that occurs when your court system has been taken over by US Army personnel.

I think you are confusing state guard with US Army and lack a basic knowledge of how our federal and state government work.

If the governor of a state declares a state of emergency and uses the state guard to assist the police in keeping the peace, the governor has not declared "martial law".

"I think you are confusing state guard with US Army and lack a basic knowledge of how our federal and state government work."

The above link is to website that contains a letter from the S. T. Ansell, Major and Judge Advocate, United States Army, dated 1917, titled, "LEGAL AND HISTORICAL ASPECTS OF THE MILITIA".

Even back then as the state guards were becoming nationalized, there was some confusion as to what that meant in regards to state and federal authority and the constitution.

So you are not alone and my comment on your knowledge in regards to how government works was not meant to be a cut on you. However the cited link provides a plethora of information in regards to national troop authority, the co-mingling of state guard under national authority and organized v. unorganized militia.
