The Sierra Club wants to take the funding for the planned Stillwater bridge and spend it to save the cougars.

A cougar in Stillwater? Be still my heart.
I am guessing there was probably a large mirror on the deck and she saw her own image.

When is the DNR going to admit there are cougars in this state and there are sightings several times a year and some on camera? They are in west central and northern minnesota and now the metro. That would be the largest domestic cat ever! Get real what's the big deal if the state has cougars.

Back when I lived in the area, I had many cougar sightings, usually Friday or Saturday evening down at the Dock Cafe.

I wonder if it was the same idiot lady that noticed the cougar tracks behind her work....then they turned out to be from a bunny

How do we know the lady reporting this isn't a "cougar on the prowl"?

I think their resistance is that if it's determined that cougars have re-established themselves in MN then the DNR is obligated to manage them. Which is another task with the same amount of resources.
I can understand that, but at the same time it's pretty much an open secret amongst hunters and outdoorsmen in MN. The cougars are here, and they aren't going away.

Used to work at the Dock Cafe during the college years and was attacked by a cougar or two. Usually after a couple of Long Island Teas.

Had one in my back yard, but her blissful exclamations and exhortations woke the neighbors!

No cougars? Ha! I survived many a cougar attack over the last several years... The worst part is if you somehow realize that, despite the outward appearance, this could be someone's grandma.

I live in Stillwater and a couple weeks ago we heard a strange noise at night. One we have never heard before. I did some research on the noise and found out it was a female cougar in heat. She has been in Stillwater for awhile now.

I'm surprised that the DNR is saying there are no cougars in the state. I've thought for years that there WERE cougars in the state, just not very many of them.

"Or it could be an elephant. Or a rhinoceros. Or an ostrich. Or a teradactyl."

It's a cougar. I'm sure this woman is just like the rest of us. We've seen pictures and videos of cougars. If we looked outside and saw a cougar, IT'S A COUGAR.

I think there's a bit of misinformation going on when a wolf specialist for the DNR says it's unusual to have a cougar in the state. I've heard through channels in the DNR that there has been a cougar resident in Wash. Co. for at least 10 years. Maybe he's poo-pooing this possible sighting as hysterics. But there is a real possibility that there is a resident population in the state... in my humble, non-expert opinion.

I just know the officials will kill it.and not transport it to the wilderness..typical of gov. workers to take the easiest way and save the money to increase their paychecks and benefits..its a workers paradise..and dont let them tell you it isn't...

Cougars are good. They eat deer that collide with cars.
