The US has already spent more in Haiti than they spent to rebuild Europe after WW2. How come Japan and Chile suffered severe earthquakes and have recovered and Haiti is still mired in poverty and misery? Spending any more money in a corrupt country is a waste of taxpayer resources. These savages expect Americans and Europeans to do all the work.

A wise man once said that you can predict the future by studying the past. Well, the history of Haiti shows that things will never, ever improve. It is a hopeless case. Individuals (such as certain famous movies stars) and private organizations should, of course, continue to try helping. But not a penny of taxpayers' money should be wasted there.

As an American, I personally feel that we should not give up on Haiti. Yes, there is corruption there but something important needs to be addressed. Education. Haitians want to learn. With 80% illiteracy how can the rest of the world ever expect Haiti to progress. If Castro can do it for Cuba why cant the world do it for Haiti. Progress has prerequisites. Education is one of them. Stop sending security forces and send teachers. Stop building UN camps and build schools. Ben Stiller built two schools in Haiti, Bravo!

Also, with the shear number of teachers who are out of work in the US collecting unemployment. Perhaps those who want to can work for some program in Haiti. Dont Haitians want to learn English. Math has no language. The US should take the lead to promote such programs.

Only a punk would consider Haiti out for the count. Perhaps their country was never poor and perhaps they never needed nor accepted a handout sometime in the past. I wonder.

Go Back to Haiti's History and you'll know why we have an 80% illiteracy rate. Ask the French about the money they extorted from us. Ask the US. about the embargos and the Governments overthrows that hey participated in. You Know what they say follow the money trail and you will know who's behind what. To know how good a person is, you need to know how he treats it's neighbor. Haiti was Austricised for gaining it's freedom from tyrant oppressors. That is about to change because now we have the opportunity to show everyone what we're capable of.
