Does anyone have news of Jeremie since the earthquake? Was it badly damaged, or perhaps being so far from Port-au-Prince was somewhat spared? We have a friend who had just gone there from the US on vacation to visit his family. Longing for news.

Jeremy was victim of a different genre but equally devastating earthquake just 40 years ago,it was Duvalier ethnic cleansing against the peaceful mulatto population.

Until today, the criminals who committed those massacre and rape are still free in the Haitian diaspora even today.

In the name of the "noirist" movement,Francois Duvalier destroyed the mulattoes, the only cultural memory of the 300 years French presence in Haiti.High birth rate among the black African population further attenuate the white and mulatto population.

Decades later in the 1990's Aristides continued what Francois Duvalier had started. He further oppressed the mulatto, forcing many more in to exile to impoverish the country .

Do you have any info about the conditions of the town? Did the quake do any damage?

Hello. I'm trying to find out if it's safe in Jeremie? Have they been affected by the earthquake?
What is happening there now? Is anyone able to travel in or out of Jeremie at this point?

I have been in contact with a pastor in Jeremie every day since the quake. There is little structural damage although about 90-100 homes were damaged. The huge difficulty now is the number of refugees coming from PAP. Many are arriving by boat (1200 at a time) as well as bus and truck. They are hungry, injured and homeless. I don't know why relief supplies can't be flown into Jeremie?

I totally agree with Mr. Oberweiser. Apparently all or most of the relief efforts have concentrated on PortAuPrince.

By the way las night the people of Puerto Rico collected more than $3.5 million. A ship with food, water, medical supplies for 3 million people that were collected was on route to Haiti. We have to keep supporting Haiti now and for a long time. I hope we don't forget our haitian brothers and sisters.

Any word on welfare of the children and artist mentors in the EMOTI0NS SHOP ARTISANAT, Rue Henry Christophe #18, in Jeremie? Proprietaire, Bazelais Onel, is the Mgr. Our mission team met them last December. We really enjoyed meeting the chidren, their artist mentor, and Bazelais. We liked the concept of the project and were very impressed with the quality of their work. We even bought a great amount of their work to sell in the US (Seattle, WA) for them. Awesome work. The project gives street kids room and board and art training for being involved. How can we know they are ok & the project intact? Please write. My e-mail is bapilling@hotmail.com if can communicate. Hope Jeremie is beginning to recover; I am glad the Canadians are in there helpng. Awesome people. I hope God is present in Jeremie. We feel so helpless back in Seattle when there is so much need for helpers there. Pray the commercial flights return so we can. Love, "Momma Betty"

I have been in contact with Pastor Joseph Nicolas almost daily. They are trying to accommodate thousands of refugees and are running low on all consumables. Prices are outrageous. Still no word on airlifts.

That would be terrific. If it would be possible to contact Nicolas Joseph, a pastor in Jeremie, could you send him our best wishes from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. His address is #32 Rue Brice. Thanks. I'd like to make contact when you return also, if that is possible.
