I'm sorry, but your recollection of Johnson is FALSE. She was shot! I am a relative of hers, and do not know where you have gotten these false statements.

I worked on the cases of Wilson, Gonzales, Shaw, Johnson and several others during the early 70's.
One killer did not do all of them, and many of the reports concerning COD are erroneous.
Collette Wilson was killed by Henry Doyle Shuflin, Jr. Reports of her dismemberment are false. Shuflin, after strangling her, hid her body in a field adjacent to the apartments he lived in. When we began mowing and combing the field (about 250 acres), he snuck out one night, found her remains, and put as much as he could collect in a duffel bag and transported them to Pearland, where they were subsequently found. Shuflin received a sentence of 75 years.
Shaw and Johnson were killed by Michael Lloyd Self. He beat both of them in the head with a beer bottle, strangled them, and dumped their bodies in a drainage canal approx. 1 mile ne of Turner Bayou, which is why Johnsons skull was found in Turner Bayou, having been washed down the canal. Following the theory that this might have happened, we tracked back up the canal to a small bridge, and started digging, at which time we recovered over 90% of the remains of both girls.
Colette Wilson was strangled to death. No one was ever arrested, but Harry Lanham was strongly suspected of her murder, along with that of Gloria Gonzalez. Lanham was a wrecker driver. Lanham was arrested for the death of another young girl, whom he shotgunned to death. He was killed attempting to escape from the Harris County Jail.
The joint Galveston/Harris County/Houston task force looking into some 13 murders and disappearances concluded that there were a number of different killers rather than one serial killer, which subsequently proved to be true.
A number of the cases are still unsolved.

My apologies Investigator...I see that you were referring to Rhonda Johnson, not Maria Johnson. I got on the defensive to quickly, and I apologize.

Good !! I'm glad they put him away if he killed Allison. What a horrible person he must have been.

I just wish everyone would quit listing her case in with all the other killings as unsolved. I found out about Shuflin last year. Thanks for confirming it.

Negative on questioning Manning. We were never able to find him, although we had reports of him being (A) in the army (B) in Louisiana (C) in Georgia. Apparently he surfaced at some time much later than the time frame of our investigation (71 to 76).
Investigator, I think there is something very amiss here. This Manning person, when Good Ol' Boy spoke to him, said investigators had interviewed him after he was located in the army in 1972. He has given two completely different stories as to his whereabouts that 2 year period. I have articles here that say one of those bodies that were found (in the lake behind his house by the way) had his clothes and keys on it. Something is very, very amiss here.

i am not the investigator but dang again. we may be coming together here as just good folks, when folks start apologizing after gettin mad and admitting mistakes then the right road is being taken. i will say that a mistake here and now by an investigator on these things oughta be acceptable, so many many variables, facts, names, causes of death.....

glad to see yall here.

No statue of limitations to murder.
Why is Manning not being investigated?

I think every jurisdiction has their own suspect on these murders. I could be right or wrong about Manning, but I know he did lie. He either lied back then, or is lying now, or both. Why is he lying ?? Why did he run away on July 1, 1971. He seemed to have a decent family from all accounts.

Back then he said he was traipsing about the country on motorcycles with a friend and then when they finally ran out of money, they joined the army. Now he says he was being abused by a truck driver he ran away with.

You might think he was too young to have done anything, but I don't know his physical size at the time, and he was resourceful enough to come up with a false birth certificate in the false name he used. He was resourceful enough to stay gone for nearly a year, with seeming no effort. It is odd to me, for a normal 14 year old boy to have accomplished this in 1971.

I'm not sure what to think?
I would like to know why his clothing was found on skelton remains.
I would like to know why other remains were found near that location.

My family was raised with the Wilson family and we knew Collette and Marguarite very well. Of course, Dr. Wilson was our family dentist.

My mom was also VERY close friends with a family on the adjacent county road. The road Collette was abducted from.

Even though we hadn't discussed Collette in MANY YEARS... out of the blue, on her death bed in late 1995, my mother said to me "I know who killed Collette". She told me who, and it was one of the last things she ever spoke.

Months after she passed, and I could get myself together, I pondered whether her statement was one of final release of guilt (knowing all these years and not telling anyone), or if it was the morophine talking. I knew I would be labeled as a kook if I called Alvin Police, but I had to.

So I called in early 1996 and told the investigator everything. He said that indeed they had suspected this man my mother told me of, but had no evidence to charge.

So now, I firmly believe that this man's mother knew about it, and told my mom. That my mother carried this knowledge for the rest of her life...and why she didn't say anything isn't really too hard to understand, as this man was a very violent one. She was afraid for her and her family.

I sincerely hope my mother was hallucinating. But I don't think so. And if it IS true...now I know. And it will haunt me forever.

To Friend of Collette....I was also a good friend of Collette's, she would have graduated in my class, 1976. Your Mom was obviously not hallucinating, since the police confirmed the name. Was it Larry Weldon??

Tess,
I knew Wanda. She was not missing from Corpus. She was missing from Port Lavaca. Supposedly husband came home and she was missing...but there are many rumors behind that. If rumors are true, she never made it too far from Port Lavaca.

The Johnson girl whose remains were found in the drainage ditch next to Taylor/Turner Bayou/Lake just out of Webster were not shot. And I got that "false" statement by being there, handling and examining the skulls, and relying on the definitive autopsy and conclusions of Dr. G. Sheldon Greene, Harris County MEO who, with my assistance, managed to reconstruct over 90% of the two bodies.

If you are referring to the Johnson girl who was found floating in Galveston bay, you're correct...she was shot, but that is NOT who I was referring to.

Many times confusion abounds simply because there were two Johnson girls at the same time.

Well.....it sounds like the ramblings of a wannabe cop who has been watching too much CSI-Miami. It presupposes the reality of only ONE killer, and ignores the facts as they exist. While it is true that the High Island area is desolate and usable (remember Arnold Dean Corll?) for body stashing, I think facts over the years, arrests and convictions, and the multitude of MODs point to multiple killers, including copycats.
