Why is Subway restaurant more expensive than many fast food restaurants? Subway has no dollar menu or value menu that McDonald's,Burger King and Taco Bell etc have. To eat healthy and save money make your own healthy subs at home.

Subway costs more because the food is higher quality than most fast-food joints.

I agree Subway is very expensive. I spent $45 for a family of 4 the other night. It was half the cost to buy the cold cuts, hoagies, and fixings we liked from the grocery store and we had twice the amount of food and drink. We ended up with enough to last another night.

Health Food? More expensive? Really?

This is why I rarely eat at Subway. Too expensive for a piddly sandwhich that honestly, just isn't that great.

Let's compare, Subway uses bread, burger joints use bread. So they both have to buy bread, or buns.

Lettuce, tomato, onion, etc...Burger joints buy this too!

Cheese? Burger joints use cheese?

So it comes down to the meat choice then. Burger joints buy patties. Ok, so Subway buys cold cuts? And I'm supposed to believe that buying cold cuts is astronomicaly higher then ground beef patties?
Heck, Subway doesn't even have to buy or deal with fries. You get what, chips???? Ha ha ha ha ha...no wonder I'm always hungry an hour after Subway.

Sorry, but Subway is a rip-off in my opinion and I never go unless I'm the people that I'm with, go there. Then i go in.

Not to mention they ticked my off last time I went in. I wanted the Sub club, lettuce, tomato, onion, bell pepper and black olives. They build the sandwich and put the black olive on last. Well, all but one or two black olives roll off the sandwhich back onto the counter. He's about to wrap it, I say, hey, put thos olives back on. He said that will be, I forget, 80 or 60 cents extra. I said what????? I don't want extra, I want the ones that rolled off, back on the sandwhich. At least a few of them. He insisted on charging me extra to put the black olives back on? What a crock, that ticked me off, I told him where to put his stupid over-priced sandwhich, I told him where he could put his "Extra" black olives too! F Subway!!!!

It comes down to the following: Subway pays their employees twice as much as the fast food joints !

I went last week. I never eat out. A subway club ( doesn't come with bacon but by definition a club sandwich has bacon which is redonkulous) was $7.00 after tax 7.50. A bit ridiculous. I don't want to eat processed meats for 5 dollar foots. That's why I am at subway to eat healthier. Heck even there tuna foot is now 6.00. Really a giant can of tuna at store is only 3 dollars. I will not be going there anymore I don't care how fresh thier bread is.

It is higher quality. If you notice subway doesn't grit their meats so it is healthier. Plus the 6-inch is only 3.50 not as cheap as spicy chicken but really. Better meat better bread. Healthier all the vegetables you want and not just 2 slices of cuccumber and lettuce. Plus unless you have a very sensitive stomach it won't make you sick like mcdonald's because when I eat at mcdonald's/burger king my stomach always hurts.. So in my oppinion it is worth eating at subway I've the other fast food restaurants

You said quote "If you notice subway doesn't grit their meats so it is healthier". What?? Grit meat? Please explain.

Subway meat sucks. Try some good Boarshead lunch meat and you would never want the crap from Subway again.

Hmm.. Let's see, McDonalds employees get paid $8/hr in CA I work at a Subway in CA, guess how much I get paid,$8/hr. So your theory as to why Subway is so expensive is wrong. Your so full of crap I can see the brown in your eyes.

Really?!!?!??!? You think we get paid more than minimum wage? You have to spend about 50 hrs. of personal time doing training online that only gets you 10 cents more per hour. Not to mention, they just took away our free six inch per shift, they keep increasing their prices, we no longer get reduced priced drinks, we now have to buy specific shoes, and they keep throwing more and more stuff at us that we have to do. Some stores have to weigh their chicken, everybody has to make parfaits, and now my franchiser decided to buy ice machines that we will have to manually load into the coke machine instead of the automatic unit, all to save about 20 bucks a year. This company values their employees about as much as the human race values rats.
