I understand the need for housing but it’s time to control illegal apartments. The owners of these locations receive tax-free money, but don’t contribute to the added costs of public and school services. Additionally, many of these apartments are death traps. I know some people say they need the additional income to survive economically. My question to them is, are you really living within your means? Everyone wants a home, but did they bite too soon? Think, do you really want a multi family dwelling living next-door to your hard earned home?

Southampton sucks, a bunch of rich folks want piss poor people to cook, clean, landscape and serve them. Pay them squat, then bitch that these people live run down places in town. What a bunch of arragant morons.

Let's just hope that the increased revenue from these collected fees goes toward increased inspections and enforcement of laws already on the books ( like noise ordinance and occupancy laws ) and not into a politicians pocket. We definitely need more inspectors, otherwise this will turn out to be another toothless law.( Sort of like our immigration laws now !)

So... doesn't this technically mean that roommate situations are now illegal? And what if a gay couple wants to merge their families together? Because they aren't technically married, they technically aren't a single "family." This is absolutely the most ludicrous, elitist, hateful piece of legislation ever...

Here is where we agree! I see the towns point, The illegal aliens don't know how to live with civilized people, They throw garbage around and pack as many as they can into an apartment. The building becomes a slum and the area becomes run down because decentpeople leave. They also burden the towns schools, hospitals, jails and any other service the town government supplies! The idea that they send their under the table money to mexico also burns me up, My tax dollars run the school system and these bastards don't contribute! As for the summer rentals, that will come to a halt if the town allows these scum to populate all over the town!

Gays were never welcomed in the Hamptons to begin with. Now we have a law to keep them out. Kudos to the Town of Southampton.

One of the caveats of the new law is that the TENANT must be one of the following:

1) Relative of landlord
2) Work for the town of southampton
3) Work in the town of Southampton
4) Donate a percentage of time to charity

So.....here is something interesting.... A tenant living in an apartment in Southampton town and working in the town of Easthampton would be technically breaking the new law and must move out. Interesting when you read the fine print of this new code.

Yes , You are right on the money! I got rid of my landscaper and got the kid from the neighborhood, Lawn looks shitty but I don't have to replace sprinklers every week!
