Congress is always plagued with lobbyists, and the campaign finance laws need to be revised again to protect against a variety of concealed bribes. But most of the lobbyists are seeking special provisions to benefit the special interests they work for, even to the extent of opposing a health insurance reform bill. Luckily, some are lobbying to make the bill more helpful to them, and they are willing to support it if they get reasonable provisions.

It would be really funny if the same idiot gave the same judgeit to both the comments. Maybe he doesn't even know that the "laughing liberal" is neither funny nor liberal. Just another grumpy right-wing propagandist. My guess is that most topix types are not informed enough to discuss the actual topic. It is only one of the most important things that needs to be done to prevent our economy from getting into serious trouble again. But since it does not involve name-calling at politicians in one party or the other, it does not attract so much attention. The point of the new over-sight authority is to prevent financial manager types from cheating the public with funny money financial instruments, and setting up more bubbles and ponzi schemes, and to protect consumers from all sorts of shady financial practices designed to take advantage of us. It is vitally important - the the crooks and wanna-be crooks don't like the possibility of being watched more carefully.

Why is it that every time a bill is introduced to help or protect the hard working citizens of this country these blood sucking industries try to use the scare tactic "it is going to cost much more money." Credit card interest rates are totally out of control, penalties for a late payment is totally out of control, the banking industry overall is totally out of control. One thing that should be done immediately is eliminating the variable interest rate. This method of adjusting interest rates is legalized rape. I was very upset when congress had the chance to pass laws protecting the consumer against credit card companies and the banks and they turned around and smacked the consumers square in the face. Very obvious who is padding their pockets. I'm not very comfortable with the government over seeing things in this country but it just might be a fairly good start.

The more positive thought would have been to hope for the best. Still the dreary dick aren't we? Thought sad sack would have done something viable by now besides bitch till there were no cows left to come home :-)

Excellent post. I know my bank is charging higher fees since they were bailed out. Compass bank charges $38 dollars for insufficient funds which I agree that you should not have insufficient funds in the first place but it happens to the best of us once in awhile. BUT the fee that I totally disagree with is Compass's policy of charging an additional $7.00 per day including Sunday and holidays until your checking account is brought current. That is highway robbery. I no longer do busy with Compass Bank.

Punctuality isn't The Twins' strong suit as you are easily side- tracked, but it is important if you want to be taken seriously. You might even want to show up early if you really want to impress! The stars are about to hand you an opportunity that it would be foolish to ignore.
