Re: Celebrate the Peace
Mr. Selby apparently hasn't a clue of what he wrote about. According to Wikipedia.com Veteran's Day, Nov. 11, was originally Armistice Day, commemorating the coming of peace after WWI. The word armistice literally means a state of peace (from Latin: stop arms). In Belgium it is actually known as the Day of Peace in Flanders Fields.

As to the second point of Mr. Selby's "that all war is good economics," that is almost verbatim what Karl Marx said in his materialist conception of revolution. By extension if war is good economics then we shouldn't oppose the Afghan and Iraq Wars, especially in an economic recession. And don't try telling the former USSR that the Cold War was good economics, especially on the Eve of the 20th anniversary Fall of the Berlin Wall.

It is interesting to note that Marx's fellow traveler Friedrich Engels wrote that Afghans are prone to go to war, not for economic reasons but due to boredom: "Afghans are a brave, hardy, and independent race; they follow pastoral or agricultural occupations only ... With them, war is an excitement and relief from the monotonous occupation of industrial pursuits (from Engels, On Afghanistan, 1857).

Not only does Rep. Miller use public resources - he tries to cheat the government out of money he owes them through lies he manufactures during land deals.

But the people of Diamond Bar must be ok with having a liar represent them - must not bother them to have a man stand up at a Monrovia City Council meeting and beg them to buy his hillside land but then claim later it was taken by eminent domain to get a ridiculous tax break.

Tiffeney Henderson is wondering why Miller voted with the people he serves in mind, realizing (as did 37 Democrats) that this bill is totally wrong for our country? Thank god Miller is a little smater than old Tiffeney.
There is still hope that the socialized medicne them can be defeated.
Pray for that hope, as this bill will spell the end of a great country.
