Nevermind.
After reading that list I think I will remain single.

If I were going to get married and owned a home with a yard I'd register for gifts at a nursery and plant store - I miss my garden!

Nice ideas, my favorite is #2. Me and my partner (I've met him online at http://www.midgetdatingservice.com , thank you very much) are invited at wedding next month so we'll definitely consider something from this list.

They seem like reasonable suggestions.

But given the wrap up at the end of the article, I'm not so sure this isn't just an advertisement for Qualipedia.

The observation that an LGBT couple getting wed may not need the usual span of wedding gifts traditional to newlyweds (Toaster, blender, George Foreman Grill...) makes sense. But apart from maybe a specifically gay-themed gift, why would selecting a gift for an LGBT couple be so remarkably different from selecting gifts for any other couple. Of course you consider their likes and interests!

Somehow, the column made me a little uncomfortable. It seemed to buy into some not-so-empowering gay stereotypes. Why not a set of Snap-On tools?(For mechanics; get your mind out of the gutter!) We're not all gourmet cooks and opera goers, after all.

The Snap-On tools are for the lesbian couples :) Along with the bridal registry at Home Depot.

Actually, the article to me seems very much to pertptuate stereotypes.

A gay couple who are good friends got a gift certificate for an anniversary sundial from a family member who wanted to make sure they felt accepted. I thought it was a very considerate gift - the little sundial they had made just for them was made of glass and sits on the windowsill in their apartment, making rainbows in their room whenever the sun hits it. The time shadow follows a special anniversary date line on their special day, and there is even a mark that the shadow hits at the time of their ceremony! I don't think that it was a stereotypical "gay gift" but it sure was appropriate!
