I have a family room that is about 15 feet by 15 feet. There is one wall with a patio door. On either side of that wall is a wall at 45 degrees angle about 25-30 inches long with a 16 inch window. Next to one of these walls is a 6 foot door opening that leads to the kitchen then about 6 feet of wall. At the begining of the 6 foot wall is 18 inche cold air return floor grate for our hot air furnace. The wall directly oppisote the patio door has about 3 feet of wall then a reguler sized door opening and about 9 and one half feet of wall. Next to that wall and opposite the kitchen door opening is a wall about 12 feet long. Then the short 45 degree wall again. I have a 3 piece reclining sofa set. I had wanted to see the T.V. from the kitchen which meant it would have to go on the longest wall I have. What advice do you have for furnature placement?

Artificial plants and artificial trees are good for interior decorating. Artificial plants require minimal maintenance, compared to live plants.

I need help deciding what bedside tables to use. I wanted a decorator look which suggests using different tables close in size. My headboard is tall, medium color wood, kingsize, traditional, square. How different can the side tables be? Can one be painted shabby chic or antque and the other not? One with drawers to the floor like a. Bombay chest, the other perhaps on legs with an open bottom shelf or no shelf?

with a red sofa in the living room what color can i paint the wall in the back of the sofa, i have black and white also.
Red Black and White seems very contemporary. I personally like those colors together. In fact, here is a little Plug in.... www.prettyplushpillows.com has some nice zebra print throw pillows and some with a touch of red, very modern. They are handmade. I find them pretty cool. You can also request your own colors if you don't see them there. Simple touches like throw pillows or area rug or piece of art can bring out a room!

I bought a home built in 1966. The oak-ish colored wood is thoughout the house-doors, windows, trims and all cabinets. I love pressing this-mostly! But if i were to paint the upper kitchen cabinets white for some variety, am i ruining the homes' resale value? Any opinions?

Problem... I purchased a teal sectional on a cold day in February and departed my entire design plan, now I am stuck with it. My walls have a hint of khaki, the sofa goes okay with them. I have no idea what colors to compliment this large teal sofa with, and it is very dominating. Any ideas? And what shape coffee table works with a sectional? Should it be white or a burnished silver or something? My floors are a dark walnut.

If you're looking for reproduction antique style furniture AntiquePurveyor.com really can't be beat with prices or quality.

They don't have any of the big showrooms, they do everything out of the warehouse through the website so it really keeps the prices down without hurting the quality.
