Am I using to much brown.

I have just purchased a couch and chair from Ashely Prairieview which is kind of a light brown.(Durapella) My walls are a mocha brown. My floor is laminate (medium golden color) my furniture is wood. I am thinking of purchasing a dark brown leather recliner. Should the recliner be leather and dark brown. Do I need to paint my walls another color. Room doesn't get a lot of light. Lamps are a yellow golden color.

Hi Mi Ling

We at African Galore sell African jewelry and artefacts and home decorating items. How can we market these home decor items on the net because I know there are people out there who woudl love to have authentic ethnic African pieces but do not know where to get them from.

Thank you for your site that offers to help those of us with interior design queries.

I recommend adding some cool splashes of color in some cool teal, aqua, sage green, or light blue. YOu can do this by adding some wall art, pillows, plants, blanket throws, rugs, and window treatments. I have a similar situation, and this is my strategy. I have found that my favorite color with my browns is a light blueish green. The best color sort of depends on the style (modern, western, traditional) of the things you already have...Just something to think about.:-)

A tan wall would look great..or grey would be another option. If your sofa is plan red you could also do a design on the wall to imitate a smiple wall paper or apply wall paper. Valerie c
