I need some advice. We have recently moved into a house that was very 80ish.All of the inside doors and woodwork are stained a reddish brown color. We are in the process of priming the woodwook to be painted a color. We had originally planned on painting them white which brings up the problem. All of the actual windows are almond colored. What color would you suggest painting the woodwork. We are also planning on adding new baseboards and crown moulding and I really think I want those white. Am I being too stuck in my ways to have all woodwork white? Could you paint the window facings an antique white and have the baseboards and crown moulding white? Help!!!

I personally like my trim work to match as well. I have chosen a English Walnut stain that compliments my cabinetry and several furniture of my large pieces as well. The only exception is in my LR. I wanted that room to have a bit more spacious/airy feel. I chose a Cottage Linen paint color for the trim work. This space is enclosed on its own therefore the lighter color and furnishings carry themselves well in there.

How about looking for a color that could work well with the reddish brown and almond? My suggestion will be colors of beige, peach, or something that is near to that tint and hue. I think it will not clash with the available colors unlike white.

I would probably match it with the almond color.

Why not something matte-ish but neutral? Might just go well with your existing almond theme. You can hardly go wrong with neutrals. If it really doesn't, just go with the almond. Good luck!

What do you think about painting the baseboards the same color as the wall?

I thin you should inspire yourself using an interior design magazine

What colors should I use to paint the interior of a small "Florida cracker" type house. It is near a lake.

Does anyone know who makes the paint color Cottage Linen? I used it for something a few years ago and can't locate it again. Thanks!

Paint the trim work with the other neutral.
Black

White is the absence of all color, Black is the presence of all color.

You can't hurt anything. Paint is the most inexpensive way to decorate.

Who knows maybe you will start a new trend.

From an artist that taught color theory.

I am trying to match by baseboard color so I can do touch-ups. It's not a true white. Are there standard shades that contractors use when they paint trim?

As a professional painter in Louisville, we typically paint all trim the same color. The walls can be the same color but usually are not. Walls and trim look better (imo) with different finishes (sheens). Most often we do Eggshell finish on walls and Semi Gloss on trim.

Hope this is helpful

Shades of white are the most common for trim. Here in Louisville Porter Paint's White Umber is very common.

Waverly Home Classics, American Tradition Signature colors. The color coge is WV35001. You should be able to find it at Lowe's.
Good luck.
