it must be nice to continuosly redecorate a home at the tune of "$300,000". and showcase the pictures when people can't pay their mortgages, afford gas or food . why don't you report on the "REAL' people out and print the photos on how they live.....

These people remind me of Eddy from the show "Absolutely Fabulous", who is always redecorating her home in pursuit of happiness. But true contentment continues to elude her, no matter how many times she changes her kitchen.

I grew up in this house and can tell you that it looks better than ever. However this article is not accurate. During my childhood my mother only redecorated once in 1984. It wasn't until a few years ago in 2006 that she decided to expand the house, renovate and refresh the decor. This writer exaggerated greatly for the purposes of this article. My parents take great pride in their home and in creating a beautiful and comfortable environment. My mother is a meticulous person, a perfectionist and an amazingly gracious hostess, not to mention a wonderful person. My parents are incredible role models in the way they constantly open their home to family and friends, entertaining and celebrating all of the special occasions in our lives. I have amazing memories of birthday parties, engagement parties, baby namings, graduations and holiday dinners. It is wonderful for me to now bring my children home with me and for them to enjoy the house and feel so comfortable in their grandparents beautiful and inviting home.

In this article, the author cites a TV decorator who says of serial redecorators:
"Even if your budget allows for ripping up tile every year, you really should be thinking more about sustainability and not acting on a whim," he says. "A major remodel should last for years. For these people, I think there's another issue: They're either second-guessing their choices, or they have to have the newest and latest of everything."
I think such people must have very low self-esteem and too much focus on the superficial. Those who have so much money they can gut their kitchens every year should think more about getting involved in charitable work; they might find far more happiness if they spend their time and money helping their community and those less fortunate.
Please note that by this I am not referring to the Goldbergs, who Lori tells us were misprepresented in the article, and who were not said to be the type to gut their kitchen every year.

It's too bad the writer felt the need to exaggerate. In that case, I apologize for my earlier comment.

The article was bad enough, making two really good people look like something they are not. But allowing a personal attack and an anti-semitic comment to appear on your website was unconscionable. The Courant bears responsiblility for the hurt they have caused the Goldberg family and the Jewish community.

I must be missing something, or Mr. Mayes is trying to make something out of nothing.

Fortunately the Courant deleted the comments I referred to in my comment as "abusive". But the damage had already been done. Both were highly offensive.

Knowing the talent of Meghan Sheehan and her desire to help her clients bring their vision to life, I would say "good for the Goldbergs". Your home is your castle and if you are able to spruce it up do it as often as you need to.
Good job Meghan...can't wait for your insight for my home.
