Maybe the Agnostics should put up a big green question mark or a moving statute of a guy shrugging his shoulders in a "beats me" kind of way.

As long as none of my tax money is used to support any religious display, I can tolerate the displays. I am somewhat curious how many different displays they can fit onto the capital grounds. There is only a few thousand to go.

Yet another "original" piece of "thinking" from Guest. Do you not know anything else other than bible speak?

Not me.

I was Christian, once. I don't plan on going back.

I went to a Baptist church when I was out in the mid-West, visiting my parents. I know my mother likes it when I go to Church with her, and they recently joined a new church.

While it was more laid back than I've seen before, I still realised that it wasn't something I could relate to in the least. I kept an open mind, but I just don't get it.

So, you can keep your Christmas, Jesus and the Bible. I respect your right to believe as you choose. Just don't put your beliefs on me.

BTW, for those who don't know, I'm not an Atheist or even an Agnostic. I'm Pagan.

I couldn't help but notice the poster had two candy canes. The candy canes are a religious symbol which stands for:

J - Jesus
Shape of Shepherd's crook - symbol of how Jesus like the Good Shepherd watches over his children like lambs.
Hard Candy - Solid like a "rock" the foundation of the church.
The flavor of peppermint is similar to another member of the mint family, hyssop - In old testament hyssop was used for purification and sacrifice, and this said to symbolize the purity of Jesus and the sacrifice he made.
White represents the purity of Jesus and his virgin birth.
The bold red stripe represents love. The fine strips are said by some to represent the Holy Trinity, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, other say the blood spilled at the beating of Jesus received at the hands of the Roman soldiers.
Candy a symbol of Christmas and a reminder of the meaning of the holiday.

How ironic that they would put up an atheist poster with candy canes. Candy canes stand for all that Jesus represents. In other words, you can't get away from the truth not even on an atheist poster.

Then just rename your Christmas tree a "Pagan Winter-Solstice Tree".

Who says I have a tree?

Just remember, when you're decorating your "Christmas tree", it's a tradition handed down from Pagan traditions. Christianity has done a lot of "borrowing" over the ages.

As I said, I have nothing against people being any religion they choose, but it's not for any of you (or any gov't) to decide what my religion is going to be.

I also don't have a problem with people saying "Merry Christmas". Not everyone who is of a different faith makes a big deal about that. I know that, for the most part, it is well-intentioned. I send out Christmas cards to friends and family (because they're all Christian).

I can't wait until this becomes the norm for holiday decorations.

Will make people think, rather than being told what to do.

I laughed so hard when I heard about this story. Kudos to the governor of Washington for beating the religious nuts at their own game.
