Nothing like a reality check to shake up the unwashed masses. This is a great idea.

Did you know that indigenous Native Americans didn't have Habeas Corpus until 14 years after emancipation?

We were forced to adopt the practices of white American society.

But that won't stop us from comtinuing to accept the financial assistance of white American society and this fine white American society University.

Heya heya heya heya!

Land theft, mass genocide, weapons of mass destruction (small pox laden blankets), and death marches (Trail of Tears) are the real history of European Colonialism and early American Imperialism. It might be needlessly superfluous to go open old wounds, because reverting back is a fantasy; it is a far cry from the Kumbaya historical revisionism that we so often hear about. It's an equal atrocity to slavery, and a black eye on a society that liberally espouses freedom and equality. There is nothing wrong with a literary and peaceful protest that teaches the real history.
"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."

What happened to the American Indians was atrocious and heartbreaking. But that was many generations ago and we have come a long ways. We need to know true history, but not in a way that makes this generation feel responsible for what happened. Just like Cville always brings up slavery a couple times a year to make us feel bad. I have never, nor did my ancestors ever have slaves. Let us teach history correctly, but remember it as history. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Exactly.'Dude'- consider my agreement with this as my response to your post. My post was intentionally sarcastic, I studied history so I am not in denial, but get over it already.

I caught you sarcasm, but did you miss this part of my post ?"It might be needlessly superfluous to go open old wounds, because reverting back is a fantasy." There still isn't anything wrong with teaching real history instead of the revisionist history that victors so often write.

Lets take another leap into the past, "Remeber the Alamo", anothe twist on US history that gets left out of the history books.hint, Mexico had banned slavery well before that incident, another hint, Texas was a slave state, so why did the Alamo happen, Texas independence? bull.

If they don't want to make anyone "feel guilty"...fat chance at that, or be anti-American, then pray tell, why do they title the event an "Anti-Thanksgiving Potluck". Why are leftist grivance-mongers always "ANTI" white, European history in the U.S.? Don't they realize that Thanksgiving was about undocumented English and Dutch immigrants thanking the Great Spirit for having survived the winter with some of them still intact? Are they against undocumented immigrants seeking asylum because they're being religiously persecuted. WOW! if that's so, then them Injuns are mean and nasty Xenophobes and racial bigots. Instead of being pathetic, joyless killjoys, they ought to give thanks, like everyone else that they live in the freest, wealthiest, most comfortable nation this planet has ever known.

Try making an argument instead of a snide remark. It's clear you're incapable. Until the end of Imperialism in 20th century, peoples have migrated or invaded whatever word you choose, going back to the Ice Age, so stop with the self-righteous victimology 400yrs. later. You don't see the Algonquin protesting the Iriquois for the latter trying to wipe them out. The whole thing is leftist idiocy and the agenda is always the same....money. All these shake-down artists ever want is something for nothing and to take from others what they themselves haven't earned. They blame our ancestors for their ancestors troubles and say "REPARATIONS"! My ancestors were were victims of systematic genocide by the English because of their religion. You don't see me playing the victim. It's sad and pathetic, just like you Mr. NON-free-thinking.
