How sad that some people don't understand that this consumerism mentality is destroying us all. Years ago there was no "Black Friday". People enjoyed Thanksgiving for what it was and enjoyed a long relaxing weekend. Now, there is little mention of being thankful for what we have, only a mad rush to get more, more, more. You are pawns to what the media is telling you to buy and when to buy it.

I for one don't need a thing, and won't be shopping on "Black Friday". I will enjoy my family and friends, and thank God for all I have. Some of you would think I don't have much, but my heart is full and it's all I need.

i was born on a black friday that term was coined in the 60's but really became popular around the 70's
i was born in 51 so i was at least 10-15 years old before that term was really popular..
that is why i grew up and still to this day refer to being born the day after thanksgiving.
it sounds so ominous to call or think of my birthday as BLACK FRIDAY so i always think of it as the day after thanksgiving.
So my family and i never will shop on that day.
And seriously would you like everyone to refer to your birthday as a black day ?

Happy Birthday! I wish "Black Friday" would disappear and no one would ever say those words again. Its so sad that that is all people think about.
