Another young man shot in York, this is such a surprise. I don't know this young man, so I won't judge him, but what was he doing outside around this time? York is getting worse and worse every week. When are they going to start doing something about the crime and violence in this city? Or is everyone just sit around as our youth kills themselves?

Here we go again. I think we all need to start a new trend, or did we already, The answer to any disagreement is the gun. Now we have to deal with all the garbage at another make shift memorial in York. He was just another kid, not working, and just starting to turn his life around. Such another good boy, allllllllllllllllll, I wish I would have called him my second son. All these articles say the sme at the end, such a good person. If thee is so many good people living in this city, how come they keep getting killed? At 1 am out on the street, he sure wasnt preparing his holiday dinner, was he? Of course he loved to play basketball!

Exactly, why was he outside? I'm sure it wasn't because of a legal job. I think it's time for the city to put the end to all the flowers, stuffed animals, candles and things that are littered on the sidewalks and streets when these things happen too. If people want to do something to remember someone let them do something productive that might help another person. Donate your time or money to make York a better place instead of putting stuff where it is a hazard or will need to be cleaned up later by the city at the expense of taxpayers.

That is one of the most productive suggestions yet to start ridding this city of these ridiculous gun plays. If no longer there would be shrines to these people involved in this destructive behavior then possibly these people wouldn't have such egos to continue on with this nonsense of wasting a life. These persons involved are not innocent of the situation at hand they are most likely and have most times been prooven participants as contributors to their own demise. One would think these so called shrines should be considered littering given the circumstance; do to the fact it is honoring someone who has been involved in street crime and violence. How ludicrous is that to continue to perpetuate with allowing such display. It is just a further encouragement and there for this activity will continue to esculate.

York City, try allowing shrines only to young people who have contributed good and given back to their community with honorable actions. It is call civility and not this barbaric and lawless nonsense and then later public on display adoration for these scum in a beautiful city. There are so many good young people who are not involved in this type of activity who eventually somehow become affected by these disgusting crimes. What kindof sense is that. What an example. Enough is enough of this nonsense it needs to stop somewhere and why not utilize this concept that "used to live in the city" , has posted.

York got the kind of law inforcement it wanted, fluffy and soft, don't hurt these people, there all good boys once they die. Remember the red shirts, picking on just a certan area of the city. Where in the hell do you think these people are being shot. Ya vote for another mayor and his clowns to run YOUR city, Sherff deps and red hats are not going to do you any good. You need more cops on the street not in the office or schools, let the teachers do their job. Let the cops take care of the streets. For god sake find some real leadership in the police dept. There are a lot of good cops in their, male and female. DO SOMETHING YORK.

Commentary from individuals such as Rascal and York Eats Crap is the reason that no one would want to live in York. You are the enemy that no one can see. Heartless, cold and cowardly. I hope that you and your families are good upstanding individuals ie; make a decent living and live in nice glass houses. But I can tell you this much from the garbage that you post regarding the unfortunate killing of this young man, your brains and your mouths are full of maggots. Why would anyone live near you? May your families never have to experience tragedy. See how many people come to your aid.

Get rid of Brenner and some of the Town Council and let the cops do their job. Stop yelling discrimination when one of these low lifes are pulled over and sometimes shot in their stolen cars with their drugs and guns. Cops are trying to do the job we are paying them for. It is a tough one that most of us would not want to do. Get together and go as a protest to the schools to let them know you are not putting up with this disrution and ignorance and violence being carried into your schools. There is so much more that can be done to stop this activity. And YDR stop printing this pity garbage on the front page and jsut give us the facts and news of crimes commited.

Why? Because this person is speaking the truth. And what young man are you talking about.. Young men don't go around hanging out with shot um up gangbangers and druggies. People like you with their pity parties and liberal I feel sorry ideas are part of the problem not the solution. Maybe you like living with this trash because you feel so sorry for them. So do, all of us law abiding taxpaying productive citizens a favor; please, keep it where you live.

Yea and all these gangbangers and welfare scum read these articles because they know how to read the paper. I don't think so. For goodness sake they don't even know how to fill out a job application. But they do know how to fill out a section 8 housing application and for welfare and how to steal guns and sell drugs oh and make fatherless babies and how to vote once time in their pitiful lives for a President . Wake the he!! up, Mister. Or are you one of the few of them that can read.

I have an idea! Let's get rid of ALL of the police and fireman in the city, and then let nature just take it's course! It would turn into a wasteland (more than it is now) like in "Escape from New York."
Just one problem with that suggestion, unlike Manhattan, York is not an island. We would need to build a wall.

Although that works too, I still think we would need a wall...

Obviously YorkEatsCrap you ate too much Crap to really hear what i was saying. I also agree with Bill Cosby people need to stop leaning on excuses for the reason that they can't make it. We don't know why that young man was out there so late. He didn't have to die so tragically is what I was saying. Yeah I agree excuses are like assholes everyone has one.
I just did not appreciate the mockery in your comments. Not every non-white person including Bill Cosby speaks slang, that you seem to know so well. Or makes excuses for their situation in life. "The man" whoever that is, is not to blame. Each person has to accept responsiblity for their own circumstances. You can choose to be a thug, by the way which I am not. I do work and I don't live in Section 8 housing, I pay my bills and don't ask for handouts. If you choose to be a racist that's your business. And as for you must like it, I am wide awake. I don't like if this were a perfect world everyone would work, everyone would have what they need to survive no one would care to hate either way. I don't look through rose colored glasses believe me. It is very ugly in York and just about every where else. Kill those that you deem useless? Build a wall is that the answer? Those solutions are a Band-Aid to a bigger problem. Oh, by the way I agree with your list of solutions and I do shop at Kohls, Macy's and I don't try to wear the latest fashion or thug wear for that matter. Peace.

for every one that has comments on why was he out so late nd that york is full of nothing but drug dealers, drug users, nd scum that live off of section 8. look the hell around so is every other city in this state some worse then others. it is a tragedy to loss someone so young and for ppl like u to come on hear and just act like that just shows what kind of heart you have.
Noteveryone in this city live off of welfare and section 8 and trust not everybody in the country or the "Burbs" are paying full rent. you have more ppl in your little "pleasentville" towns living on section 8 getting $800 in foodstamps and doing nothing but drinking beer and slapping the Mrs. around a bit. Belive it when i tell u u act like its just city ppl getting killed. i think not i read the little snip its in the paper about ppl in seven valleys and glenrock getting push off roof tops and i lived in the country nd the city and i would tell that trust the kids in them little hick towns are not perfect they do more drugs then city kids.
Nowhere is perfect if you dont like the things that are going on in the city or little towns you live in then do something about it get off of hear everytime someone gets shot posting and goingback and forth with your useless comments and help. Dont complain if your not going to make a change.

R.I.P Greg and to all those that we lost you are in a way better place

The overtones of these posts really hang on racism I cant believe in the end of 2008 there is still such hatred in this or anyother city. I think people like this should be on their own island and live in their own world it is utterly ridiculios. Whether this young man had any business doing whatever he was doing and we have no clue, it is a senseless death and we need to send our prayers and thoughts to his family. Not berate the dead!! The momuments give closure to family and friends, everyone needs closure. I was out at 1am not far from the shooting, I work full time go to school part time raise my children, dont do drugs dont take handouts am a very productive citizen but I go out to and may be out at 1,2 or even 3am, I can only imagine what that makes me!! My prayers go out to the friends and family to the young man who tragically lost his life. Also my prayers go out to the racism and bigotry that appears on these posts!
