This is why we have a high degree of juvenile crime in this country; read this:{"That's just teens being teens, having nothing to do, not doing nothing with their time, honestly," Mansfield resident Andrew Reese explains.} Teens being teens??

Andrew Reese, do you mind explaining how you can dismiss felony damages and aggravated arson as teens being teens to the numerous people that had their cars vandalized or holiday displays destroyed or set afire?

The Article goes on,{But police say some of the victims plan to demand restitution for the thousands of dollars in damage.} Let’s start with volunteer restitution from Andrew Reese since he seems to take a lasses faire approach to juvenile crime and have him 'pony up' half of the total damages done by teens being teens.

I encourage the victims of the vandalism to demand restitution from not only the teens responsible but from the PARENTS of the little Bas****s AND to confront Andrew Reese to explain himself to the Community as to how he can be so dismissive of the damages done to the residents of Mansfield.

It's this kind of "what-do-I-care, it-didn't-happen-to-me" attitude expressed by Reese and most likely the parents of the vandals that contribute most to this kind of violent teen behavior throughout our communities.

Force the Courts to seek restitution and punitive damages from the teens and their families! Moreover, confront A. Reese as to how he can be so dismissive of such terrible acts by teens.

SHAME ON YOU, ANDREW REESE AND TO THE PARENTS OF THE TEEN VANDALS !!!

I hope that all of them have to clean up the side of the road until they are 21 years old. I don't understand people who take pleasure destroying other people's property. What a horrible thing to wake up to on Thanksgiving. Now these people will have to spend money and time to repair their property. What a shame. I hope the criminal justice system teaches them a lesson that they won't soon forget.

Teens being teens????? Geez you are ridiculous to even make that comment Mr. Reese. Dumb, irresponsible teens maybe, but not your typical teen. Put em in juvy til they are 18.. PERIOD!!!!!

Um..yeah I don't remember smashing peoples property when I was a teen. If these idiots are bored they need to be given something to do, like clean up everything they destroyed with a toothbrush and then work till they pay off the damage. Should take about 5 years I would guess. Sitting in jail is not going to teach them much of a lesson...there needs to be a real time-consuming potentially humiliating consequence for their actions.

Tie them by the ankles to the bumper of one of those vehicles and drag them down Park Avenue West.

Call it a Christmas hate crime.

Since there is no real punishment for these punks they wont learn. One of the homeowners should have dressed in black and waited, then beat the snot out of these wanna-be thugs. That way they receive punishment that will not be forgotten in two weeks and the next group will maybe think twice before they vandalize another persons property.

Bring them to a big parking lot, smash their faces in like they did the windows, toss paint on them, pour accelerant on them, set them on fire like they did that wall decoration, and leave it up to them to figure out a way to douse the flames. Then go to bed with your doors unlocked like we used to be able to do because crimes like these will suddenly be eradicated.

A couple of interesting side notes to this story. First, when the cops grabbed the kids, the didn't run or try to get away. In fact it is my understanding they were very polite and respectful, which of course defines irony.

Secondly, one of the police officers is related to one of the kids. Imagine how surprised he was to see this boy. He could have kicked this, but did the right thing.

Now hopefully all the parents will do the right thing and provide a timely restitution to these residents. Perhaps with the money they were going to use for Christmas presents!

Vandalism comes from kids with out the proper guidance and lack of discipline from their parents. So you should be saying, shame on their pathetic parents, who have no clue how to discipline their own. Andrew Reese was just making a point. The kids should have to apologize to the community not my brother.

Well I just want to say...yes it is horrible what this boy's did and yes they do need to be punished. They are currently locked up and will have this hanging over thier heads for a long long time. People should never judge and some of the post are plain sick. They are young boys whom have never never gotten into trouble before and they made very very bad choices. And yes restitution will be made I am sure of that. But we cannot condemn these young boys but have to learn to forgive and move on and pray they learn thier lessons and move on to a better choice making life...

Dear IMONEOFHTEM and SOUTH SIDE VANDEL, how about being a MAN and pay for your mistakes. Go back to school, LEARN HOW TO SPELL (vandal not vandel) grow up and pray that your many 'childrens' don't f**k up like you did. We all make our own choices: no one held a gun to your heads and told you destroy thousands of dollars worth of property, you chose to do this and should take care of everything that you've destroyed. What you cant repair; replace. The only thing good that will come of you choosing this thugs life is you'll end up on a cold slab in the morgue soon enough. All four of you are still 'minors' in the court's eyes, but soon enough, you'll have to face the music all by yourselves. God have mercy on your souls...
