I am a SW FA for over 25 years. I"m retiring very soon...it used to be a really nice job~ but I"m really really over situations like this~ the public has become a really crazy -entitled bunch of nuts. I'm over it....way over it.

I'm a 13 year flight attendant. I think if a legitimately handicapped passenger has a service animal that helps them, that is fine and great. BUT...with all the scammers coming on, day after day, it makes us weary of everyone with an animal.
Secondly, with all the medical problems she has... "sees a psychiatrist and takes medication for post-traumatic stress disorder and a complex trauma obsessive compulsive disorder, alcoholism, and seizures with over 100 in the last three years" I'm not sure she is/was medically fit to fly. Also, she had a seizure on the day of her flight.
Regardless, of what you think a flight attendants job is, our main job is always safety. That is safety for everyone and every living thing on the aircraft, not just one special needs passenger. There are certain breeds of dogs that are more aggressive than others and a Staffordshire bull terrier, is one of those. The three Flight Attendants, two Pilots, and the Operations Agent made a collective decision not to allow her to fly based on the information they had. I feel they made the right decision.

If she is from Oakland, then you know it was a scam!

Who the hell brings a Pit Bull on a crowded flight knowing the breed's infamous record of unpredictability and biting? Good for the SW crew in looking after the safety of their passengers. I notice this introvert has no problem speaking to the media about discrimination (must be lawsuit time). Hope I sit on that jury.

There is a vet office near MDW airport that my family uses, taking the pet for a general check-up, 2 other people were in there and it became quite clear that these folks were there just to get papers that qualify their dogs as "service pets" , one women said that her friend "said" that this vet would gladly write up the papers needed for this to happen, there are bad apples in all professions so I'm sure this type of thing happens all the time. Happy travels .:)
