SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: Puerto Rican relatives of one of the 20 children killed at an elementary school in Connecticut said the family of a 6-year-old girl who was shot had moved to the U.S. just two months before the tragedy.

We protect the rights of psychotics to walk and stalk our streets, but take away people's rights to defend themselves. The Connecticut killer broke many gun laws, but it didn't stop him. The worse gun crimes are happening in cities with the strictest gun laws. Why? The criminals don't obey any laws and the law abiding citizens have no way to protect themselves.

Judged: 1 Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Carolyn McCarthy, Mike Bloomberg, Diane Fienstein, etc don't give two beeps about those innocent kids ... they are dancing in their blood to further their agenda. The right to own guns is a fundamental right for all American citizens. The Founding Fathers inserted the 2nd Amendment into the US Constitution as a means of defending liberty. |

Judged: 1 1 Unfortunately this is going to lead to a resurgence in the "militia movement" and anti-Federal Government activism just like in the 1990s. Waco, Ruby Ridge, the Montana Freemen/Justus Township, and bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building. The nuts and whackjobs will be crawling out of the woodwork once again. As it is these groups got a huge surge in membership from the election of Obama ... add-in new gun control measures and things are going to get ugly. |
LI1987, I concur with you on this. There are many people in the West and throughout the USA whom train extensively in paramilitary tactics and weaponary while citing " The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."from Thomas Jefferson. I can't tell you how this has affected me, since I live in CT we never heard of tragedy such as this. I think there's no safe place in reality, newtown is the epitome of a quiet town and this happens. I don't think this should be a US vs PR in crime because Puerto Rico is dime size compare to the U.S. so there's going to be high crime rates considering the population. There are psychopaths, sociopaths every where these are not your average gangsters and hoodlums. These people can spend years planning how they are going to harm their victims and most are above average IQ. In this case it happened to be a person with PD and Autism. There should be more protection in the U.S. I get that especially in the schools but there should also be more education and help for the mentally ill as well. |

Don't you think that assault weapons and these magazines/clips which hold so many rounds should be banned? I have no problem with a person having a gun at home to protect themselves but many of these weapons which are sold are military style weapons which do not need to be on the street. The type of weapons we have now did not exist when the founding fathers inserted the 2nd Amendment . They had the one shot than reload type guns . |

These militias are a joke . I have seen some shoot by Miami's Glades range as I fished there . They are for the ost part "White power" extreme right wing paranoid nuts who are no friend of yours ,mine or USA. They would ALL be destroyed in minutes by any Army infantry unit or a few Apache helicopters. For starters most of these guys are out of breath getting out of their uninsured , unregisterd monster trucks. I saw a militia reality show they had on some time ago and they must have looked for the only militia in the south which most members could run 20 feet without collapsing. "add-in new gun control measures and things are going to get ugly." We need gun control and to continue to ignore and just debate to death all these daily shooting is not the answer. We can not wait for the next school , theatre, shopping mall to get hit. I for one would love to see these militias attempt to get ugly , they would be annihilated. |

I hope you are corect as the NRA is the single most powerfull lobbyiest n USA. I think it is funny when the NRA claim that having military type weapons is their right. If it was up to the NRA you could have a 50 cal machine gun mounted on your roof. No wonder the Europeans think we are savages with all our daily shootings. It seems that ONLY if the killer is a Muslim do we than truly do something about it. |

You would be shocked what you can buy in Florida like what you need to attach a GRENADE LAUNCHER. As of NOW the gun unch have not been abe to legalize the actual grenade which ofcourse would only be used for "Deer hunting". http://www.40mm.com/#M203PI |

So there should not be any limits as to what type arms you can have and available ? Assault rifles have no business in society and the founding fathers could have never dreamed of such weapons. A parent should not have to worry about their childs class being sprayed with rounds when sent to school . We can not be a society which does nothing and hopes that the kids in our family are not the next victims. |

The Founding Fathers granted us the right to keep and bear arms, not for hunting or shooting at targets, but rather to act as a defense against a tyrannical government and to provide for the common defense. Remember, as American citizens we have the right to alter or abolish a government that deprives the people of their fundamental rights - that is what makes us citizens and not subjects.
A World War 1 era bolt action Springfield rifle fires a much more powerful bullet than the AR-15 (aka M-16). Shall we ban that as well? Instead of focusing on guns we should be focusing on mental health and better treatment for the mentally ill. |

That is absolutely correct. I am a martial arts student/beginning instructor now specializing in ancient Chinese knife combatives in Shaolin/Wushu disciplines. Having been in this field for many years now I can say that there are things out there FAR MORE terrifying than any gun or gun-based combative school. In Wushu knife-fighting alone, there are more than 1,000 moves and strikes which are used to inflict instant destruction upon the opponent's central nervous system. In 1930s Japanese-occupied parts of China, the Japanese colonial government was especially terrified of blade weapons because of what single, motivated martial arts fighters can do to entire squads of Jap soldiers. Knife combatives, and using knives/empty hand techniques to disarm gun-armed opponents is a key point in my curriculum, to the point that when walking city streets after hours, I am far more confident in my fighting knives than ANY pistol to turn the tide of a confrontation instantly, and with devastating results against the aggressor. People have been killing in extremely creative ways since the beginning of time and the ancient grandmasters have had these techniques honed to the point of brutal perfection. ---------- MARTYRS http://www.unnamed-heroes.com Every man has something that he is willing to fight to the death for. Assault weapons (guns) were made to kill as many as possible in the shortest amount of time. they do not belong in the civilian population. |

AR-15 amd M-16 are not the same as the bolt is different and the M-16 can spray a room with rounds while the AR-15 can not. They look exactly the same but one has the auto selection while the AR-15 does not. The M-16 like every military assault type weapon has no business on the street. |

I do not care if you are the terminator, without an assault weapon you could not kill as many perople as fast and you certainly are not going to kill them from a distance . You watch to many Ninja movies. |

That is funny...I don't watch movies. I don't even have a TV. My parents have one in their house, but I just have an old 1960s era radio. I do, however, have a near-full capacity machine shop, coal forge, lots of spring steel stock, wooden knife handle blanks, and extensive knowledge about knife making and knife combatives passed down to me from my ancestors who once rode the Mongolian steppe. So they actually make movies about ninjas? I thought all the garbage that HollyWIERD produces are fantasy, dragons, vampires and such... ---------- MARTYRS http://www.unnamed-heroes.com Every man has something that he is willing to fight to the death for. Yes they make ninja movies. I have a friend from the gym who I will see tommorrow, he is from NY ,was a "karate" expert (I don't know the difference between types of martial arts) you might know him. I will get his full name as only know his first, he has been in those martial art magazines and fought on tv but years ago as think he is now in 50s but still very good. |
