I think the check points are great and we should take vehicles by unlicense or uninsured people.I am tired of paying uninsured motorist for ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. I speak from experience as I have 20 next door who all pile in cars and drive illegally so if I get hit what Im screwed because no one stopped them. Well god bless Check Points. They are saving us money. What gives these people the right to continue to break our laws and not be held accountable. What????

I think we need a tea party????
White Privilege

Racism is not the problem rather it is White Privilege. For those of you cannot understand this concept let me give some examples; when a 17 yr. old girl, like Bristol Palin, can get pregnant and have most people agree it's a personal matter and neither parent can be held accountable because every family has their challenges. Whereas, black and latino parents are categorized as irresponsible.

White privilege allows a person to attend 4 different colleges, failing out of one, and completing the remainder of the coursework at a community college. Despite this be viewed as qualified to be President of the United States. Not as unfit to lead this nation.

There are many more examples but I'm sure you get my point.

Racism is alive and well here in California. Please white people get a clue and get off your high horse. Please can one of your answer this for me, and be honest.
What would you say to a police officer if you were asked to provide your drivers license, but come to find out you left your wallet at Trader Joes. The officer tells you "sorry sir we are going to have to impound your vehicle for not having your drivers license". Would you thank the officer for protecting and serving the public? the go down to the impound yard and pay that hefty $1000 bill with a smile? Wouldn't that just suck? I bet your tune will change after that

Wish we had more such checkpoints operating at the same time. Maybe it would deter some illegals. Why is it that for law-abiding citizens "driving is a privilege, not a right", but try impounding an illegal immigrant's car and "you are taking away their RIGHT to drive"?
WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT THEY ARE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!? It's always an ethnic thing for you hicks isnt it!!

Everybody posting "illegals, and "mexicans" are the people without the drivers license are just racist. Just as many other races of people are driving illegally also.
Other examples are the chinese person that paid for there license by their friendly cash hungry DMV Rep, the white guy that has had so many failure to appears after numerous meth arrests, the old guy that just forgot to renew, etc. The bottom line really is that you need to pay your dues like everyone else. I agree with the poster that says that they are tired of paying uninsured motorist coverage on their insurance for these idiots. If the checkpoint is legal then don't enter it if your not sober or don't have a license. Stop whining and take some responsibility for your actions people.
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH SOME COMMON SENSE. I didn't read anywhere in the article that said mexicans, or illegal's. Yet all the idiots on this board can do nothing but blame them. I think they need to look in the mirror and find out why they hate them so much.

The board is not racist. To be a racist you need to discriminate against a person soley because of their race. Mexicans are white. They are not being discriminated against because of their race, it is because of their criminal behavior. People who define people as Illegal Immigrants are playing with the language to soften and make acceptable criminal action on the part of people who come here without permission. Immigrants are not illegal, they have permission to be here. Being an alien cannot be illegal because that is a fact of ones origin. In China I am an alien. I go with permission, so I am a visitor. If I cross (without inspection) into Canada or Mexico, I am a criminal alien because I did not secure permission to be in the country.

People who are criminal aliens should be deported. Until the federal government shakes the sheets and sends the criminal aliens home (yes Canadians, Germans, and Japanese too) we need to assert state's rights to police those who have broken the law.

I do understand and have great empathy for people who flee oppresive economic conditions or for religious reasons, but they should not be allowed to jump the line of those waiting for legal immigration. America always supports what is fair. That is not Racist my friend, that is justice and fair play.

Well Sidewinder, you'd be 100% wrong. Who ever told you that driving is privlege when are licensed is lying through their teeth, or they don't understand common law that is the basis for our legal system. A government issued license is a RIGHT to perform the acts covered in the license. Their is no "implied consent" that complels you to display your drivers license. The officer must have "probable cause" that an infraction or a crime has been committed. He may not stop you solely for the purpose of examining your license. This is codified in the California Vehicle Code. The law on producing any identification without probable cause has been determined to be unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. The high Court held that police may not stop anyone simply to identify them in a San Diego case where a man simply walked through neighborhoods where the police alleged "he did not belong." The victim was black, and simply walked through La Jolla.
So you can take you socialist ideas to your next NAZI meeting, because they are the only ones who care.
You can't compare a case in which someone was stopped for being black in a white neighborhood with a checkpoint.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that checkpoints are "special needs cases" that are not subject to the "probable cause" requirement. If a checkpoint is set up and operated in a random fashion it is presumed constitutional.

And one legitimate reason to stop a car allows you to "piggyback" cause on top of one another. For instance, if a cop stops a car that is going 61 in a 60 mph zone, but only pulls the guy over for speeding because he has a hunch he might be doing something else illegal, the stop and search are presumptively valid because the police officer made a legal stop on the speeding charge.

the reality as most already see, is that these check points are nothing more than another way to make more money from the people, as the state goes into the pit, from all the waste as spending, our law enforcement go out and set-up these check points to take cars, and make money through impound fees through court fess, just how many of you out there really know what it cost, I see this to many times daily and more recent over and over, the legal cases I hear from many are just way out, and the city where its starts and the capitol is where it all ends up, the CAPITOL it's all about the buck and we are the cows getting herded in and the are just milking it more and more each and every day, look out and about as you drive each day, and ask yourself, just how many cars were stopped today as cited & towed$$$$$$$$$$

enforcing the law is unconstitutional? only in the eyes of criminals and those caught breaking one, Mr. Villagra, the economic crises is beginning to look like blessing in disguise, nothing wrong with making, instead of taking money, not at all...and we're getting wiser by the day!!!

Yeah, but the Mexicans took this land from the Indians, and those Indians had already taken it from previous Indian groups, and so on. The white "hillbillies" didnt' do anything that hadn't already been done several times before. Put that in your peace pipe and smoke it.
