Again, this is an example of an ill cited economic development tool.
BOOZE FOR TAX REVENUES !!
I have said it many many times, when will the Mayor, Alderman, Board of Supervisors start encouraging and inviting "REAL" job creators to relocate to relocate to the area.
While Offering low income / TIPPED wage jobs is needed - municipalities cannot fund govt. on these types of income.
How much does 2% of Booze, Food, etc. go in pooling revenues to properly fund govt. services.
The downtown hotel is going to crash and burn,... it was only a political deal to begin with....
Unfortunately, the alternative candidate for running the City for the next 4 years offers ????

I mean I don't go to downtown OS to party but what turned me off was that people were taking squats in peoples' yards. I mean you wanna piss behind a bar that's one thing. But taking a sh*t in public?
That's the kinda stuff you see vagrants in places like New York or San Francisco do....
They don't even do that in New Orleans most of the time.

This event is bad for the city.Just as smoking in public places is not good, exess drinking is equally as bad.Ocean Springs should not encourage this. And we should not allow it for a 2% tax either. It is time that the city moves on to more responsible events no matter what the bar owners say.

Downtown isn't the family friendly place it was just a few years ago. The character of Ocean Springs has changed, and the large number of bars is the reason. Other towns have made names for themselves as watering holes. It can be a good business for some towns. But our town has residential neighborhoods throughout the downtown area. It isn't a good idea for us.

blame the folks that voted for the 2% tax.
