no one with a medical condition should fast. do not risk your health. im not being anti anything so shut up. the rabbi agreed with the doctor on this. he said it is ok if you are not well to continue what the doctors feel is in your best interest. like if i dont take my heart medication with food, ill be in the ccu by the end of the day. oh, im skinny too so keep your hog comments to yourself also.
it seems as though people forget to be human to each other. this is a good time to remember that.

Why is this even news?

Recent statistics show that, according to religious affiliation of Americans, Jews account for only 1.3% of Americans, and their numbers have DROPPED approximately 10% since 1990.

Why do we cater so much to this group? Is this really important news?

If 1.3 is correct, that would account for more than 3 million jews in the US. Not such a small group. Since the 2005 statistics say there are more than 5 million Jewish people in the US, I believe your number is incorrect.

According to Wiki, Florida population is 4.1 % and New York being 9.1%.

In descending order, the metropolitan areas with the highest Jewish populations are New York City (1,750,000), Miami (535,000), Los Angeles (490,000), Philadelphia (285,000), Chicago (265,000), San Francisco (210,000), Boston (208,000), and Baltimore-Washington (165,000). New York is the second largest Jewish population center in the world, after the Gush Dan metropolitan area in Israel.

South Florida is the second largest Jewish population in the US, with over half a million Jewish people out of the estimated 5.5 Million in South Florida, that is more like 10% in tri-county-area. In South Florida, there are areas where Jewish people out number non-Jewish people.

So why in South Florida do we cater to the Jewish people, look around Idiot.

Ah, the "Days of Awe!" Awe at finding out you have to pay hundreds of dollars for a seat in a shul to pray to G-d. Wonder at being amongst your fellow Jews who, for one day, need to seek salvation so they can go back to being their immoral selves the next day. Here's an idea. Take the money you would spend on High Holy Day seats and donate to your favorite charity. Go outside to a quiet spot and revel in the splendor of the Lord G-d who made this earth and the people on it, including yourself. Thank Him for this one day and all the days before it and accept them as precious gifts and live each new one to its fullest. Pray because it makes you feel good and not because you're afraid of what might happen if you don't. Help the poor, offer comfort to the ill, feed the hungry, bless the children and, believe me, even if G-d isn't listening to you, you'll feel a lot better. Yes, I am a Jew. I find my G-d in the flowers of the field, in the laughter of the young and the wisdom of the old, in the inky blackness of night and the bright hues of the day, in the smoothness of the babies skin and the wrinkles of the old woman's face. Where do you find yours? LShana Tovah to all

I bet you can get some good advice in fasting from all those kids in East Africa. They have to endure it every day! So if you want to please your "GOD" (whatever that means to you), try and do something for them.

Why do we cater to morons like you? If you think the Jews are not worthy of comment, do some research that will show you that you are living the good life because of discoveries in science, technology, etc. by Jews.

I fast as much as I can. The meds I take for high blood pressure cause me to be light headed at times, even when I eat. When you throw low blood sugar into the mix, fasting and be very difficult.

I make the effort, however if I have to eat to prevent from passing out, I do. Somehow I believe the Davine acknowledges my effort.

I GOT THE TWO OLD BAG GERMAN SISTERS COMING TO MY STAND ( AND IN MY STNAD woooo-woooo) TONIGHT. WE ARE GOING TO FRY SOME YOUNG KIPPERS. THE WHOLE STAND WILL SMELL LIKE FISH...if you know what I mean.
The only tuba you have is your mouth and that is usually filled with completely digusted food.
