We in our community are much better because of our neighbors and friends who practice and observe the Jewish faith.
I will seek as many possible to share in respecting your honors.

Icons by the anti-Semites in Las Cruces. If Islamic terrorists represent all Muslims, do these anti-Semites represent all Christians?

If Christians believe that an Islamic community center is an expression of Islamic triumphalism, is this story including a Jews for Jesus group with bona fide Jewish temples anything other than an expression of Christian encroachment on a Jewish holiday? Pots and kettles.

Thank you, Les. I hope that others of us can respect those of different faiths. The problem is a harder for Christians than for Jews and Muslims. Christianity alone insists on a monopoly of access to God's blessing; Judaism and Islam acknowledge that God bestows his blessings on all those who live good lives, whatever their faiths.

Thank you for a beautiful article. One correction, Chabad is NOT orthodox, Chabad is Jewish. It does not differentiate between levels of observance, we do NOT believe in labels, you are a complete Jew no matter your level of observance. Shana Tovah.

It was stated Christianity alone insists on a monopoly of access to God's blessing. Undoutedly you are one of those who has not read quran. Convert or beheaded. This is a choice? How many times has a mohammedan suffered the same fate as Daniel Pearl. How many times has Christians or Jews pushed a man in a wheelchair into the ocean because he was a mohammedan. How many Christians and Jews have shot up Fort Hood. How many aircraft has a Christian or a Jew bombed and scattered over the landscape of Scotland? How many buildings has a Jew or Christian dropped to the ground? The list can go on and on but you have the audacity to infer mohammedans are peace loving people, that mohammedanism is a peace loving religion and way of life. These people are sadistic, murdering, assassinating fiends from the abyss. These people, the mohammedans are subhuman, inhuman, antihuman beings dressed in the skins of human beings. mohammedans do NOT acknowlege GOD but they acknowledge allah, the moon god and they commit all their evilness in the name of their moon god, allah. Go right on thinking Christians are the reasons for all the troubles and mohammedans are good and you can believe a lie and be damned. Not my words but the words of God. You have a good mohammedan day and I'll have a good American day.
Mr. Owl, I congratulate you on the most ignorant and ugliest expression of racist and religious bigotry which I have ever read. Did you know that the owl is a traditional symbol of heresy? Do you know how Christians treated heretics?

SHALOM - a word used as the traditional Jewish greeting or farewell.

Y'ALL - Southern/Southwestern slang contraction for you all.

Therefore, Hello, you all!

Yeah, I'm the clueless one.

Ms. Diana Alba, I wanted to thank you for such a nice article. I found it especially informative as I wasn't aware there were two synagogues in Las Cruces and was only aware of Temple Beth El and also of the Messianic congregation.

Thank you for including the information regarding Chabad Lubavitch of Southern NM.

Thank you for clarifying the information conveyed in the article. I'm pleasantly surprised to learn of the existence of Chabad.

Temple Beth El is the Jewish Congregation, the other is a church.

Neat how you just delineated points in the article, and made it sound like you were positively affirming judaism, without actually saying anything meaningful or worthwhile.

David Duke is a republican too, so are all the members of the racist right, not to mention the guy burning korans in Florida used to be Maranatha Christian ministries, which with John Hagee taught the Jews deserved the Holocaust for disobeying him.

I am a Democrat, and since FDR okayed Israel's beginning we have always supported Israel, I am glad they founded a state and can practice in America without anyone interfering with them.

Good luck in the Ten Days of Awe!

If you really were concerned about Jews, you wouldn't know anything "new" in an election year, just when it is convenient for your party.

It figures, the troll that goes by many names that always reads more into my comments than what is even stated. I commend the journalist on a nice article & thank the Rabbi from the location of which I wasn't aware existed, and you take offense to my words. Worse is you go through the forum voting unfavorably everyone's comments. I know you have such disdain for me, so why not just go crazy voting my comments unsatisfactorily instead of trying to disguise it by making everyone pay the price for your hate for me. Typically I am subjected to your anti-Semitic rants, so now today you had an epiphany or what? Now you claim to support Israel & our right to exist as an ethnicity & our right to worship as we please? Yet, by the introduction to your comment that applies to everyone except me in your very words as you've insinuated. I never said what I affirm re Judaism nor have I discussed my theological views with you to make such an assessment. If you choose to jump to conclusions as to what I think or believe, well I guess you're gonna claim to be clairvoyant, telepathic, and walk on water next.

For the most part once I see your comments targeting me, I have learned to avoid your ignorant rants, your tendency to make erroneous assumptions, and acknowledge the fact that you're very consumed with hate/dislike for me...which is fine, as that is your prerogative. I don't lose any sleep over your views, so maybe you'll find a new target who gives a hoot. Shalom!

Mr. Owl, if, as you write, "These people, the mohammedans are subhuman, inhuman, antihuman beings dressed in the skins of human beings," then you are making religious belief a genetic, ergo, a racial, characteristic. So I stand by my comment. If you are not deranged by your bigotry, please tell me why you are one of but a few to fulminate as you do.

I agree that OWL must have had an emotional enema, and the rant is a bit unsettling, but the Quran is not always a friendly place, to wit:

"004.089 They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): So take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of God (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;- "

This sounds like a pretty discriminatory response for rejecting Faith. Even if you don't actually have to kill them for just merely existing, you should never have one for a friend.

I'm not anti-semitic. Thankfully, someone seems to have stopped the crazy man in Florida, too.

Most haters are Republican, too. Just ask David Duke which party ticket he ran on.
