Letters to the editor: Generation disappearing

Full story: Whittier Daily News

Monday was Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Day, not a day that "will live in infamy" as FDR said on this same date in 1941, but a day that seems to be relegated to nothingness, for lack of a better word.

When Bush was President it was not the nation's war it was his war. Now Obama is President and it's not the President's war, it's the nation's war.

Rosie writes
"others put into office by special interests"
IN other words my large forei special interests are better for Montebello than your small local special interests.

This is like reading Brave New World
here is some Rosie New Speak

"brought this city close to bankruptcy - from unwise investments to sweetheart deals for city services given to the highest contributors each election cycle"

chump change compared to the Gang of three administration
how many Rosie sweetheart deals can you name?
Hint- Athens dwarfs allother campaign contributors combined

how many Unwise investments- start with Jimmy's
even worse she they recruits him to run for the council

Sounds great but does not Play in Peoria
" I am proud of our decision to purchase key commercial property so that we could revitalize our core business district in the future"
PAID WAY TOO MUCH
(campaign contributions, cronies, Why WHy why)
NO PLAN
Now Montebello's White elphant.
Worth for cents on the dollar and will be sold for less.
Rosie hung an albatros around the neck of Montebello's CRA.

Did Rosie say this with a straight face?
I'm proud that we stood up to the city's most influential special interest - the many trash haulers in the city who have wielded enormous influence on council decisions for years and targeted me and my colleagues for defeat and recall because we were not for sale"

Athens Services is unqustioned as the City's largest special interest
More than all the rest put together.

Rosie was "not for sale"
Her vote showed that she had already sold out
Athens spent over a MILLION DOLLARS in the last election cycle.
The local trash haulers are influential because they are LOCAL

Interesting that Molinari and his new boys are calling special meetings when they criticized Rosie Vasquez for doing the same.

Didn't they promise change? Looks like they are going backwards with Narimor, and they are paying him the same $15,000 that Pacheco was making.

Change? Yea right.

If ROSIE is just trying to save her reputation, good luck to her.

BUT ROSIE acts like she actually believes this stuff she's saying, In which case she is absolutely, certifiably ready for a straight-jacket.(Do they still have that mental hospital in Norwalk?)

I heard that Rosie and her twin sister Maria are even thinking about running against Kathy Salazar in the Recall Election....Heaven help us.

With all the outstanding people in the world we could use two of (think Oprah, etc), we get Rosie and her twin sister Maria. Again, heaven help us.

Homeowner writea "Interesting that Molinari and his new boys are calling special meetings when they criticized Rosie Vasquez for doing the same."

Rosi's special meetings were called Illegally in violation of the Ralph M Brown Act.

Every action taken at them was a nullity.

Thanks Rosie

Happy gets ahead of himself

"Didn't they promise change? Looks like they are going backwards with Narimor, and they are paying him the same $15,000 that Pacheco was making"

Pacheco never made $15,000 a month.
Pacheco never got the interium administrator job.
BTW YTW says he was inelligable due to ethics violations

How is this backwards?

People only took issue with "Special Meetings" when called by a lame duck Mayor and then violated the Brown Act in the process.

shades of Sarah Palin.....
there is still work to do .. the recall is coming and it wold be great to have at least one other relatively sane, intelligent, community minded person on the city council to bolster the new majority.....
and isn't it interesting to see Kathy Salazar is showing her support for special interests by being in the front row of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the sales/information/propaganda office of crook hill/pxp?(in the Chamber of Commerce newsletter) will she be as supportive of the documentary Split Estate which shows how unregulated oil fields cause harm to people, animals and the environment?
that will be shown soon in Montebello.. keep on the look out for where and when.. probably before the recall....

Does anybody know who is running in the recall? Would like to know who they are and what their platform is? I hope they have new ideas?

It's not because of World War Two that I generally dislike that generation, but because white persons of that generation tend to be so bigoted and narrow-minded. I am very glad that Archie Bunker's age group are disappearing. Younger generations of white people are much nicer and easier to get along with.

Let me slaughter a sacred cow here. When Archie Bunker types don't like your opinions, they often resort to "well did you ever serve in the armed forces?" They are flabbergasted by my reply:"I don't CARE if you served in the military."

The reason is that not everyone who enlists is a hero and a patriot. Many join only because they need a job. They receive free food, clothing, housing, medical and dental care ---- all on the taxpayers. Meanwhile civilians are losing jobs and homes, ansd seniors face a cruel choice between food and medical care. Plus they are entitled to free education after service.

In wartime, yes. Those who fought at Dunkirk or Iwo Jima were definitely heroes. But in peacetime some use the military as a welfare state. The only difference is that we are never called upon to pedestalize or kiss the feet of those who use soup kitchens or Section 8 housing!

I don't care if you think I'm talking nonsense, or if my views offend you, but please clarify one thing. Who is this Edith? Mind you, I am the first to agree that "pimping white women" and selling dope and cd's to "wiggers" is just as wrong Archie Bunkerism.

I neither want to guilt or blame today's whites, nor will I go along with political correctness in the guise of patriotism. Stupidity today has become an equal opprtunity employer. Now that power is no longer monopolized by white males, many women and non-whites are pulling crap.

You kind of talk like a brainwashed modern liberal. I don't assign enough value to a modern liberal to ever allow one of those things to offend me. They're just smelly pencil neck geeks who shouldn't be allowed to vote and I make them call me Mr. "Classy" Blassie.

But I have better hopes for you. I see something worthy of redemption in your post.
