i hate this law. it makes no sense at all. they shouldnt have the law where you have to hold your permit for 9 months, because what happened to being able to get your licence on your birthday?
it will crush a lot of kid's dreams.

I know they think this is better for kids but I'm definetly upset with the new law. My 16th birthday is in October. I started Drivers Ed two weeks ago and STILL have not recieved my instructional permit! Therefore, when my birthday rolls around, I'll be waiting 2 extra weeks before getting my license. It sure does suck.:(

Another thing, some teens work until 10 at night, so how do you expect us to get home!?

Illinois has taken some things WAYYYYY too far. I'm sorry but I'm upset with how they think this is going to change, teens won't change. If anything, they'll learn the hard way.

how bout getting the people who CANT drive off the road first? Then the inexperienced teens wouldnt have to dodge them, and there would be a little more room on the road for them to gain experience more safely. Since the Gov doesnt want to enforce it how about Rod makes ENGLISH required too, dont you have to be be able to read road signs to drive carefully? Get rid of the cell phones, dvd players and make-up too. Its a friggin car pay attention and drive

All the new driving laws lame. Every single one. It's ridiculous because not all teens make the SAME mistake other teens do but we have to suffer. Gayness. These laws need to be laid back, seriously.

I am a parent and I think the new law has the right idea, but the wrong implementation. The curfew is good but the 9 months is not. How about a law that requires people over the age of 75 to test every year? How about over age 80 requires a doctor's evaluation every year. There is far more danger on the road with elderly folks that can't see, hear or have no reflex. I'd like to the the numbers for how many accidents are caused by this group, verses teens in their first 3 months of driving.

My birthday's monday, and I'm a more competent driver than most people on the road today. Yet, I'm waiting until February to get my license.

Illinois is probably the worst state you could ever live in. I am about to commit suicide due to the fact that it's killing teenagers' happiness. Why wait nine months? How come you DMV just show a speck of understanding of how exciting becoming a teenaged driver is? People who run the law should feel the same way but you don't and that's why Illinois sucks. I am a sophomore in high school and unfortunately I have to take second semester driver's ed. I recently tried to get my permit a few weeks ago(I have never been more excited in my life) and I couldn't because I could only get it 30 days before prior to the semester I'm enrolled in. I wanted to work at Jewel this summer but I don't think I will be because the law is making me cry. Even if I do die while I'm driving I don't care. I'll go to heaven and face it Illinois law WE WILL ALL DIE SOMETIME IN OUR LIFETIME. Now I have to wait to get my license until September, the beginning of my junior year of high school where I may not even have time to get it. I've been sad for months now because I can't get my license when the school year ends. Now I've got nothing to look forward to. Thanks a lot Illinois. You ruined many teenagers' lives.
