first,condolences to the family. This accident appears to be caused by an aircraft malfunction rather than pilot error. When a plane rears up like this something has happened in the controls maintaining level flight..ie..the elevator. There was no mention of heavy crosswind component which could cause such an accident. An experienced pilot does not take a passenger for a ride in a new plane unless wind conditions are favorable. I've had the almost identical thing happen while attempting a cross wind landing with a 7AC. It's either too much cross wind or aircraft failure.
