Hmmmm.....I guess a kwanzaa principle must be to vote 95% for your own group.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe we should all do it.

Black Dr

Charlotte, NC

Dec 15, 2007

While commonly viewed as an "African" holiday, observed from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, Kwanzaa actually was created in the U.S. in 1966 by Dr. Maulana "Ron" Karenga, the head of a violent black-power group, United Slaves Organization, which was a rival to the Black Panthers.

In the 1970s, Karenga served four years in prison for conspiracy and assault in the torture of two female followers. Karenga was convicted of whipping them with electrical cords and beating them with a karate baton after stripping them naked. He placed in the mouth of one of the victims a hot soldering iron, also scarring her face with the device. He put one of her big toes in a vise, and detergent and running water in both of their mouths.

In a 1978 interview quoted in the Washington Post, Karenga said, "People think it's African, but it's not. I came up with Kwanzaa because black people in this country wouldn't celebrate it if they knew it was American. Also, I put it around Christmas because I knew that's when a lot of bloods (blacks) would be partying."

"If black Christians don't stand up for Christmas and reject Kwanzaa, they are allowing evil to have its way," Peterson said. "They will regret using a fake holiday to stamp out the true meaning of Christmas."

In the late 1960s Ron Karenga was the commander of a black nationalist paramilitary group that called itself United Slaves (US). In 1969 Karenga?s gang clashed with the Black Panthers over control of a black studies program at UCLA. Everyone was packing heat. When the gun smoke cleared two Panthers lay dead at the student center.
In May of 1971 Karenga stood trial for torturing two dissident members of his cult. Both Deborah Jones and Gail Davis described how Karenga had demanded that they strip naked. The naked women were then whipped with electrical cords and beaten with a karate baton. Detergent and a gushing hose were forced into their mouths. Ms Jones had one of her toes clamped in a vise. Karenga?s goon squad forced a hot electrical soldering iron in to Ms Davis? mouth as a form of revolutionary discipline. The torturefest went on for two long days. Karenga was convicted and served more than three years in a California State prison.

Kwanzaa rhymes with yo-mamma.

It's like Hagen Daz ice-cream - meaningless.

Might as well send up burnt offerings to a volcano god...

Boom, chika-boom, chika-boom.

Yo-mamma.

What a farce! The problem with Black people is that they fail to realize that they are being used again. Failing to research that the man who invented this Holiday was evil and vile. If he lived by these so called principals then he would not have been jailed.

My wife teaches in a predominately black LI school district and she asked how many of her kids celebrated Kwaanza. Answer? Zippo.
It is just another self-serving bs holiday created by an angry professor who is eternally mad at the world because he was born shaded.
Of course our feel good kissyass media swoops down and group hugs this clown and his hands out all the time society.

To quote Teddy Roosevelt: "There are no hyphenated Americans, there are only Americans", or words to that effect..Despite prejudice, despite religious and secular hatred, more people from the rest of the world have come here and 'made it' than anywhere else! Why do you think that we have such a large illegal infiltration problem?? We are responsible for our lives, for our values, for our country's future. We are NOT responsible for the past sins of long dead people! Diversity divides, it NEVER unites. Anthropology, which is the discipline of studied diversity confirms this. While the 'melting pot' theory wasn't a positive reference at the beginning of the 20th cent., it still is a better way to view Americans than placing us all in little boxes; African American, Italian American, etc. We ARE the hope of the world, not Europe, not Asia, Russia, China. If we unite as humans, we will prevail, and help those in need. Otherwise, adios America..

Has anyone noticed that the 'dark continent' is dying of self-inflicted wounds? They've de-forested nearly the whole continent for firewood to cook with. They're in a constant state of anarchy {civil wars / tribal wars}. The only place in the world with hyper-inflation is in Africa. Some of the worst genocide in the world's history is being conducted in Africa today. Africa is... a write off. They can't feed themselves, but, they've sure got enough AK47's to go around [selling for as little as $50 each]. If there weren't underground mineral wealth there'd be no westeners in Africa whatsoever and there'd be no pretense of an economy in any of these tolitarian 'states.' Whether Ebola, AIDS, pirates - what have you, the only things that take place in and/or to come out of Africa are plagues.
Africa - the whole damned continent, should be quarantined and left to die.
Anyone in America who thinks there's pride to be had in African roots should take a look at what that darkest of continents is actually all about - chaos, anarchy and self-destruction. The only prides there are the lions and they're far too few in number.
Africa - yeah, right - what a freeking disaster area. Is it any wonder American blacks are devoid of self-respect? After all, those from the dark continent also have dark souls - just look at their men; they'll do it with anyone and not lend any aid to those their seed bring into the world. No, the women are enablers and men are little other than animals - stick'n it in wherever allowed to do so and tak'n no responsibility for the results.
Whether in Africa or out, the African behaves more like an animal than a member of the human species. It's time African Americans learned to walk upright and to thank their lucky stars they're in America. Rejec the BS make-up holidays and other nonsense, assimilate and embrace your host nation - and stop shooting each other!
I always assumed that Kwanza was an ancient way that africans celebrated christmas, or something similar to it.

A violent criminal came up with this in the 60's? Is this common knowledge, and it is still continued?

I wonder if Obama will be celebrating the Black Jesus, who was a poor black man who came to assist black people in the "destruction of the white enemy," as he did for 20 years at Rev. Wright's church.

At the beginning of the 1960s, Karenga met Malcolm X and began to embrace black nationalism. Following the Watts riots in 1965, he interrupted his doctoral studies at UCLA and joined the Black Power movement. During this time, he took on the title "maulana", Swahili for "master teacher" and "lord"; "Karenga" meant "nationalist."[3] Earlier, he had called himself Ron Ndabezitha Everett-Karenga; Ndabezitha being Zulu for "your majesty." He formed the US Organization, an outspoken Black nationalist group.

In 1969, the Black Panthers and the United Slaves Organization (Organization US), a more radical group founded by Karenga, disagreed over who should head the new Afro-American Studies Center at UCLA.[4] According to a Los Angeles Times article, Karenga and his supporters backed one candidate, the Panthers another. The Black Student Union set up a coalition to try to bring peace between the groups, which ended when two members of the Black Panthers, John Jerome Huggins and Alprentice "Bunchy" Carter were shot dead in an altercation.

Felony conviction and time in prison

In 1971, Karenga, Louis Smith, and Luz Maria Tamayo were convicted of felony assault and false imprisonment for assaulting and torturing over a two day period two women from the US organization, Deborah Jones and Gail Davis.[3] A May 14, 1971 article in the Los Angeles Times described the testimony of one of the women: "Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Ms. Davis's mouth and placed against Ms. Davis's face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said."

Kawaida, the Nguzo Saba, and Kwanzaa

In 1975, Karenga was released from California State Prison, with his newly adopted views on Marxism, and re-established the US organization under a new structure.
