I wasn't a fan of the candy buy back program. Halloween is one day a year that kids can eat and gorge on candy. When we were children did we not go trick or treating for the reason to get as much candy as possible? Are we that guilty of enjoying the pleasures that we want to take it away from our children? I had 10 trick or treaters this year. In years past I have had near 100, our generation little by little takes away from the next not enhances their enjoyment of childhood. The program can still give out raffles for bikes so kids can exercise, they can encourage healthy eating but let them have their candy this day..

I agree with you 100%! When my kids went there I could not believe it. Then to see them at Middle School all dressed up, even the teachers get involved and dress up. At that school kids do not have Halloween parties, Christmas parties or even end of school year parties.

The students wanted to donate their candy for the troops and a chance at a bicycle.

When Halloween falls on a weekend you won't get many trick or treaters. They're at parties and churches.

I think that it is great that the kids got together and were able to sacrifice something for those who may sacrifice everything for us...

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
