I'll admit after looking at the pics on Goerie, it does look nicer and more spacious, but of course the prices are going to be raised to pay for that. I will continue to shop there, but probably not as often.

It sucks that there will be another empty building in that plaza, which might make it harder for the few stores/restaurants left to survive. Also, a hassle for people who don't have a car, or who don't feel like driving all the way to upper Peach.

But, there are more jobs, low paying retail, but more jobs.

Good and bad.

Just looked on Facebook GoErie and there was a link to the West Erie Plaza's Facebook page. So the Erie Times News article was a lie, VCG Properties knew that Gabe's was leaving because they refused to renew their contract. The article in the ETN made it seem like Gabes chose to relocate on their own volition.

Ha, ha! Nordstroms would never come to Erie. That what some of the people around here don't seem to understand. This is Erie, not Manhattan. According to the West Erie Plaza facebook page, a few Erieites with delusions of grandeur think we should have Trader Joe's and co-ops, dinner theaters, and other high class shopping, wining and dining. Doesn't this sound familiar? Oh yeah, that is what the Koehler, now parking lot, was supposed to be.

The poster known as Nasty is right, Erie is becoming very predictable. I predict that the West Erie Plaza will end up becoming:
a)a new branch of the City Mission
b)low income or senior housing
