When a child thinks about Halloween they think about candy. Halloween is Oct. 31, why not have "Trick or Treat" on Halloween, no matter what day it falls on. Then every year everyone would know what day "Trick or Treat" is. No confusion. It just makes sense.

Cause MORPC likes to mess with people and you cant have it on Friday night cause of HS football and Sunday is out because Halloween is Satanic and Saturday is out cause it is too much trouble and Monday is out cause it is too busy and Tuesday is out cause of soccer and Wednesday is bad cause of meetings so Thursday it is!

Gee, why don't we just move Christmas, Easter, Passover, Rosh Hashana & Yom Kippur to more 'convenient' days?

Or your birthday or your anniversary, etc.

Halloween is a silly holiday where your children are allowed to use the phrase "Trick or Treat", wear costumes and get some treats (candy, coins, glow sticks) and be CHILDREN...

Some people just want to suck the fun out of what little fun hasn't been made illegal in the sorry state of Ohio.

Bah Humbug to all you meanies.

Great, now I have to leave work early, fight traffic to get home in time to follow the kids around the neighborhood, get them home with their candy, and then rush to the graveyard in time before the rest of the coven starts knocking over tombstones without me, all on one night?! Some of us have to work the next day, MORPC!

Trick or treat is thinly veiled socialism.

Obama and his nazi death squads are giving your children candy.

My word, what would Ohio fold do without paternalistic planning commissions? Think for themselves, perhaps? Can't have that, can we?

Let`s just drop the candy off at the Elementary Schools the week before the 31st and they can divide it amongst the children before they go home on Friday.
Saves money on costumes, allows parents to have normal dinner hour with family and hopefully takes away fears of tampered candy.
Plus the teachers get the chance to filch the snack size Snickers bars before the kids get them all!!!

Per the article, due to the divine wisdom of the "if it ain't broke, let's fix it anyway", Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Halloween will be on Thursday, October 29th this year, since Halloween is actually on Saturday.

If Halloween falls on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it will be moved to the Thursday prior to October 31st.

"So trick-or-treat is Oct. 31 as long as it's a weekday. If Halloween falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, go out on the Thursday before Halloween.

That puts Beggars Night on Oct. 29 this year, Oct. 28 next year and on Oct. 31 in 2011."

That would mean Hilliard is also expected to follow this goofy edict.

That is the dumbest thing ever It would be smarter to have it on the weekend so parents don't have to rush after work and kids don't have to worry about getting up early for school. It just makes since have trick or treat on halloween .

This is the kind of crap people just need to ignore. Need a grass roots movement to just ignore this nonsense and do trick or treating on the 31st. Kind of strange but when I was growing up we never needed the govt. to tell us when Halloween was. This is bordering on retardation.

I think it slipped way past the border!
I suspect there will be kids out all weekend long, hoping to collect more candy. Also confused parents because of this shifting of the children's holiday taking their kids out.
Just another way to fix stuff that ain't broken.
I think I'll change my birthday next year to February 14th! LOL.
