John Starkey is such an idiot. He doesnt care about the town.He lets people drive town vehicles without a license and thats numerous people...He lets people screw the town,by leaving for any reason, and not using their accrued time.We are paying for a lot of the dpw workers gas for their own vehicles. He lets certain people go home or do anything that they want to do and still get paid for the day.He costs the town a lot of money on grievances, just because he doesnt care.He lets certain people choose what job they want for the day.If he puts someone on the back of the garbage truck and and their fathers think they shouldnt be on there,he takes them off.And that is numerous families.

And then there are the people working on the dpw,who are good workers and care about the town. They do all the work.John could cut his workforce by probably 5 or 6 people by firing the ones that dont do anything.

There have been times when people were being paid overtime for plowing and were home sleeping.I am not going to name anyone, because it is Johns fault. And theres a lot more that I cant even think about right now,but I will write again.

I didn't know what you meant at first, but now i do.John Starkey hired someone related to the higher powers just before winter. Then he laid someone off who had worked most of the summer. This relative is still working now.He was supposed to get his CDL license within a certain amount of time. That time has passed and he keeps flunking the test.So John brought him to take the test.He still didn't pass.John did this on town time.We as tax payers paid him to do this.

John thinks he is better than us seabrookers.A few years back, probably 7 years ago,I know for a fact that one person got 2 winter coats 3 pairs of work shoes and boots, all at the same time. That's what they used to get every year. And they get expensive things. These things totaled 450 dollars.People don't see that in the town report. That's on top of the clothing allowance.

John will spend any amount of money that he wants and he is not held accountable.

Back to the gas that I talked about earlier, some of those guys carry 4 or 5 gas cans that they fill and bring home.I wish someone would pay for my gas.

I heard this person was doing court ordered community service for the town before he was hired.Who gets a job that way?I haven't lived here long but my neighbor's talk about this stuff and I think the nepotism in this town is nothing like I have ever seen in my 60 years on earth!!

I agree. There's no reason to have couches there. If the employees have worked too long, and are tired, they should go home and sleep.Off the clock.

That may be true, but we might be talking about different people. The one I am talking about is a relative to one of the selectmen.

But I do know two people that were hired by the town because they were on town welfare.neither one works there now. It's probably a good idea to make them pay back,if they were, but it's not fair to someone looking for a job.

And about the nepotism, most people will help a family member or two,but they try to get their whole families in there. If they are qualified for the job, they may deserve a chance, but most the time that's not the case.

Family crap in town has always been that way, from the dpw workers to the town hall, what a joke!!!
Right down to the (grown) grandchildren of the selectmen.......where is the fairness. I for one would love to see some of those people that have had the town hall jobs voted out,its time.

Let there be an overhall of them all. I have seen on the my space pages how some of them go on there while they are at work,(one of the dpw's wifes to name one) I wish I could get paid to do that sh&^

Its all in who you know.

yes we are talking about the same person.I just learned of this site and after reading some of the other blogs regarding the state reps. I think I will no longer comment on this site I think the stuff on there is way to personal and hurtful.I chose to stay out of that.I think it great to have opinions dont get me wrong but involving children is a no no.All we can hope for is change.God bless!

I have been thinking about some things that have happened years ago and recently.

recently the town clerk hired for a full-time position. There were people who have worked part-time for the town who applied. But the town clerk has the power to hire her own help. She had one granddaughter who worked for her,who was qualified, but didn't apply because she is going to school. She had another granddaughter who hadn't worked in her office, who got the job.It just happens that this new hire is also a granddaughter to one of the selectman. Is that fair?

Years ago when the town was hooking up the sewer system.Everyone was allowed one hook-up to your house. This person who also worked for town in the same office as the foreman who was doing the sewerage, got a hook-up to her pool house.

And one more thing, most of the police do a great job.I have a lot of respect for those ones. But Barney Fife[AKA CODY]was being paid for having tramps in the cruiser.we were paying for this.Does anyone in their right minds think this is fair?

I know we dont get along...lol

But I have to say I agree with you 10000000000% about the town cleark thing... what a joke that is. The granddaughters go on their my space while at work and say how bored they are and cant wait to get out of work!!!

I say le give the job to someone that would appreciate it.

Things like that should be looked into.

It seems they are all related there one way or another... either through marriage or just blood.

I will be honest and say I moved out of town 2 years ago for lots of those reasons... they go around and tell other people's business and this I know for a fact!!!

Lots of things should be looked into at that town office.

Then,if the sewer foreman was in charge of the project and he had nothing to do with it,who okayed the hook-up.I would say the foreman should be the only one with that authority.

Something should be done about it in the town hall.
Isnt there a town manager that should be involved, the great tax paying money at its best.
I can tell you this...for a fact... they let someone register a dead persons plates...and they knew it...when they were faced with it,the "town clerk" hid in the back room,so the person dropped the whole thing, the state police were involved. They let the ex wife do it...how sick is that. But the mans family didnt want to keep it going,to keep the pain alive,(if you know what I meant!!!)
I have seen pictures of all the underage drinking that those girls do as well... great image for the town workers.
Im glad I left town for one reason that my tax paying money no longer goes to such people as that.
I think they have way too many people working there anyway...

I didn't know about registering that car,but that really doesn't surprise me.The town clerk, like some of the elected officials have more powers than non-elected personnel. So I don't know what power the town manager has over them. But that's a good question.

What about probably 5 years or so back, when the town clerk only worked probably 10 to 20 days for the whole year and received her whole salary. And that didn't stop on that one year.

It was a sick thing what those people did allowing that registration to go through, but the plates were pulled by the state police and lots of things were said to the ex wife... I know.

It was a sad thing that she got away with that,I do remember it and she should have stepped down at that time,if she couldnt do the job then have someone that could.

I would believe that the town managers job is to over see the well being of the tax payers... even though someone is an elected person doesnt give them all rights. I for one would like to see changes there, but I moved so I shouldnt let it get to me.

I hated going in there so much,so it was a great thing to just move away and not see all the bull that I couldnt change.

I think many of them are well over paid.
