A A As Father's Day winds down, and as I sit at the computer pondering the future of this nation, as I do most nights,A I find myself asking the question; how much longer will political correctness allow us to honor our mothers and our fathers on these days? "how can we expect that we will be able to celebrate the mothers and the fathers in this nation for much longer? If we are acknowledging the concept of parenthood, aren’t we ignoring those that chose to enter relationships where conception and parenthood is not possible?

By honoring our mothers and our fathers are we not also condoning an “extremely heteronormative” lifestyle which may be considered insensitive to the gay and lesbian community who cannot–or more accurately, choose not to–become mothers and fathers through the natural process?"

Nope, I know tons of gay people that are parents. I also know many people in 'heteronormative' relationships that are choosing not to have children, or just maybe won't get around to it.

However, they all have a mom, and a dad and most honor their parents and have a good relationship with them. They are the ones, afterall, who raised, love and support their children in their 'alternative lifestyles'.

Oh, and FYI, a colored egg is just a colored egg no matter for which holiday is it being used for. Have never heard anyone call it a "spring sphere".

the government isn't to ENDORSE one religion over another. that's why they can't call them christmas & easter vacation or make kids sing christmas carols in school any more. it has nothing to do with political correctness. That is seperation of church and state.

any store who wants to market christmas trees and easter eggs is completely within its right to do so. any employer who wants to have a christmas party or host an easter egg hunt can do it and no one can say that they can't.

as far as mother's & father's days go...not religious holidays. not really something the government has spent a lot of time getting behind or pushing either. I don't see how this could possibly be a problem for anyone.

this writer was reaching pretty hard to make this comparison and clearly missed.

oh, and honestly. spring spheres? i challenge anyone to find a reference to that in the media anywhere. thats just stupid and made up
