You are technically correct; earth's ecosystems have extraordinary restorative powers. But you still miss the environmentalist's point: there is no guarantee that Mother Earth's ultimate solution will incorporate our continued existance, particularly since we are the causative factor. And that pointholds even if you believe it is natural, cyclical climate change. At the very least, the earth's carrying capacity for a human population could be reduced by billions. But hey, that will quite probably focus on the coastal areas of the poor third=world countries. You lack human compassion, as well as a broader understanding of the problem.

I buy the environmentalists basic point but can't buy Al Gore's solution. All Hollywood Al is trying to do is add government that crosses notional borders, add international taxes to control any economy that uses energy and of course have all activity monitored by a central control with oversight. He wants to build a world wide "authority" to minister all current uses of energy. He advocates "the Empire".

Well, I'm flabbergasted Big Al's personal charisma hasn't won you over, but a global phenomenon requires a global solution. Complex systems cannot be controlled by isolated, uncoordinated action. This is a problem that requires one to abandon provincial attitudes and concepts of sovereignty that will be made obsolescent if the global climate change develops the expected catastrosphic manifistations, some in the United States. "The Empire" you describe tastes just a wee bit of the conspiracy theorists kool-aid, my friend.

Nope - unedited video of Democrat politico admiting to the world that cap and trade is another tax and a "big" one.

Oh, yeah, the conservative fascination with their favorite bugaboo, taxes. Money makes the world go 'round, and governments regulate it with a number of tools, including taxes. How do you think Bush funded his wars? Well, it was through deficits, but that is simply a tax deferred. The conservatives were counting on you being too stupid to appreciate that fact. Were they right?

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Scorpio

If you haven't seen certain people during the past few days, how about inviting them over for a drink or a meal? You're feeling sociable and will enjoy doing some light entertaining although you'll draw the line at anything too strenuous. It's a lovely day for being in familiar surroundings with some familiar faces, even if all you do is flop on the sofa.
