Majority of Spaniards disapprove of...

There are 2 comments on the Suria story from Apr 7, 2013, titled Majority of Spaniards disapprove of.... In it, Suria reports that:

A slim majority of Spaniards disapprove of King Juan Carlos, an opinion poll published Sunday showed, after scandals over an elephant-hunting trip and a corruption probe centred on his son-in-law. Spain's King Juan Carlos delivers his traditional televised Christmas speech at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid on December 24, 2012.

Over two-hundred years since the French and American Revolutions, more than two centuries after the Americas--from the USA to Argentina--overthrew their colonial masters, abolished monarchical rule and established democratic governments, I find it hard to believe that, in the 21st Century, many European countries still consent to be "subjects" of a King or Queen.(Harder still to understand is how Canada and Australia have not become independent, democratic republics.) At a time of "the Arab Spring," when despotic rulers in North Africa and the Middle East are being overthrown, where is "the European Spring?" When millions of oppressed people ("we are the 99%," "los Indignados") demonstrate against the inequality of "the 1%," Europe seems enamored and obsessed by its mega-rich Royals--be it their incredible wealth and privilege, their ostentatious weddings, or their financial and sexual scandals. Truly, nations who harbor and tolerate a PARASITIC RULING CLASS, get exactly what they deserve: bad rulers and bad governments.
