Old-fashioned shoe-shine stand among Central Market additions

Full story: York Dispatch

Central Market patrons who walk past DeCarlo Fleming's shoe-shining stand seem to say the same things: "That's so old fashioned," "It's like old times," and, depending on the patron's age, "I remember when those stands were everywhere." Shining shoes is -- at least locally -- a trade of yesteryear.

I'm going to take some of my shoes and give that man some business!! Great story on someone that knows how to hustle vs sit at home and collect from the taxpayers, I give him credit.

Ok now city big wigs! Give this man some business and have you and some of your friends wearing expensive shoes show up at his stand! Or are you too good to be seen in such a place? And mayor Bracey? Why dont yoyu show up and not just for a photo op and have your shoes actually shined?

My son is home on leave from the military, and it sure would be a real vacation for him if he didn't have to shine his own boots for his dress uniform. I'm going to take my son down to the Central Market and ask Mr. Fleming if he'd do the honors.
