Anyone remember the original "Miracle on 34th Street" movie with the young Natalie Wood? The Kris Kringle/Santa character (played by Edmund Gywenn) said he hates the way we "Commercialize Christmas" and that is correct. Every year, the Christmas advertising, music and decorations start earlier and earlier, sometimes (like this year) during the summer! What comes next? Christmas music, commercials, etc. for Christmas 2015 starting Dec. 26th, 2014? I'm not a Christian or member of any of the large organized religions, but it is sad to see those who loudly proclaim their Christianity ignore it's true meaning by focusing on spending/making money. With the ever-earlier yearly emphasis on Christmas, by the time Dec. 25th comes around I'm regretting/disliking Christianity. I'm also wishing I could hang Santa, fire his elves, steal his presents, turn his sleigh into firewood, and turn his reindeer into venison. Christmas, like any other "Special Occasion" only becomes cheap and meaningless when you stretch it out over months and ignore its true meaning by sticking dollar signs all over it. Let's try reemphasizing the True Meaning of Christmas by limiting it to the last couple weeks of December, not starting it months before Dec. 25th.
