Family lives within budget, why can't the government?
On Friday, my wife and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. A decade of domestic tranquility has me thinking about marriage and milestones, and what we have learned over the last ten years.

I understand the gut reaction of what these people are saying this but its naive to hold this opinion.
The govt has been running deficits for decades now. To all of a sudden do the "its Obama's fault" is a bit naive.
And let's say we did end all new issuance of treasury bond debt. Let's say we operated on a "tax & spend" only budget. Meaning we only spent what we taxed. First, taxes would rise & second, overnight the military's budget would be cut, overnight. Probably by 3/4. Ingalls would be shuttered. Or if you were lucky could perhaps start shopping its services to foreign customers or oil tanker companies.
But all that DoD money flowing to Ingalls? Gone. They'd move all operations to Newport News, what little there was left. They'd shutter the Gulfport composite yard too.
And whoops -- there goes half the local economy. NASA would @ best cut Stennis to the bone. They'd cut the Social Security offices hours, probably cut SS checks, etc.
You get the picture. We can't 'run on our budgets' because we haven't run on a budget in half a century. The govt has been running debt for decades.

Gulf: And your solution when the Keynesian nightmare occurs?
The liberal politicians with Obama at the head of the class have driven us to the abyss of internal destruction with political correctness and victimization. Everyone is a victim of some sort and deserves to be supported by Uncle Sugar i.e., me and others who pay taxes.
Your whining is straight out of their playbook accented with a lot of Alinsky and they would be seriously happy if all Americans fell in line with this type of thought. Generational theft is the current term used for what Obama and his ilk are doing and I think it is an appropriate description of what is occurring. Our grandchildren will have no future if we don't correct our fiscal trajectory...and soon.
I do not share your Apocalyptic views when cutting spending, and trust me, we have a spending problem not a revenue problem. First we must eliminate baseline budgeting which will stop the "budget creep", then institute across the board cuts and give each department authority to achieve those mandated cuts within its agency.
Obamacare must be seriously reworked (I do not think it is now repeal-able) because if implemented as it now stands and with what little we really know about it, it will be the budget buster. Again, that is contingent upon 'Dear Leader' finally passing a budget after all these years.
So let me be the beacon of optimism and hope. It will not be easy and there will be much pain to the people but it must be done...and soon.
