Well if they appreciate the homeowners why aren't they rewarded with more than discounts at walmart?? How come they dont get a lowered light bill?? I know they get free tickets but I think they should get a little extra

Didn`t the chamber just recently have a business fair trying to get people to shop locally? Then why is it that Ms.Lisa Boeke tends to accomodate outside vendors to vend their food items to the visitors. The Kettle Corn people are not from Carlsbad, much less the funnel cake people that come from Nevada. Ms. Boeke is as full of it, along with the whole chamber group, as the portable buildings you can rent from Sani-Tech Rentals.

Why are the prices so outrageously high?! And I can agree with Lynn and Nancy, the home owners should get help with their electric bills. I don't live on Riverside but we have friends that live on Riverside and they are average hard working Americans, and with electricity bills on the rise they wonder how they are going to make a nice display with the money they have budgeted. That's typical for the the Chamber to expect a huge display but not help.

Oh but if it's the Kettle Corn people that sell in Ruidoso, it's well worth it.....yum yum yum!! |

I decorate my yard because I like to. Memories of Culpepper Circle make me go all out. It is beneficial to the whole town due to the tourist influx.
What about homeowners all over town that decorate to a "Christmas Vacation" level? How are you going to compensate them? Stop the whining. Buy a ticket, or buy a boat and save the price of the ticket. Ho! Ho! Ho! |

Really? Are you sure they get no compensation? Not even an allowance to buy the big displays? Doesn't make sense to me, that the residents for no reason whatsoever would spend 1,000's of dollars so Carlsbad can benefit from ticket sales, which yes are a bit high!
I imagine there is some kind of closed door promises or lining of pockets somewhere down this line. I know that my electric bill rises quite a bit with the displays I put up during christmas, so I imagine there's is outrageous considering how long the city expects them to light up their displays. I am wondering where Lynn and Nancy got their information, I will look into this because it just doesn't sound right, no one in this day and time does anything for free. |

the residents that live and decorate their homes are in no way compensated there are some who have people volunteer their time to have their yards decorated whether it be due to their age or health either way they appear to have more Christmas spirit than you do. Why can't anything ever be done here in Carlsbad without you Debbie Downers assuming some conspiracy. |

I'm not being a Debbie Downer and if these residents do this without any kind of compensation whatsoever while the city makes 10's of thousands of dollars off their displays every year, then that's great, they are truly civic minded citizens and deserve compensation. I speak about an entity as a whole although you judge on personal basis, you know nothing about my christmas spirit. I suppose the economy isn't hurting the people on the river if they are able to sacrifice so much with nothing in return. Makes me wonder why they are not thanked publicly more often in the Chamber's newsletters or website? |

Brad Light might be able to answer your questions on whether they are thanked by the chamber, if they are why do they have to make it public I'm sure they get plenty of thanks from the community members in passing. I know that the friends that I have that live on the river get much pleasure in their participation alone I've personally seen them get excited just in the planning. |

"The chamber will never turn down a volunteer offer to help in any way." I personally contacted the chamber in reference to volunteering my time with Christmas on the Pecos to be rudely asked what services to do you offer? I guess because I could not offer a particular service that Lisa Boeke needed she did not need my assistance. When I explained that I could sell tickets, pass out blankets she told me that she had all the help she needed. With something as wonderful as Christmas on the Pecos I find it really sad that they put scrooge in charge of it....

I wish that we could just get along and enjoy the holidays . At lease we are given the chance to have christmas on the pecos . so from me to you happy holidays .

Mrs Lisa Boeke ,
is a very friendly lady. why are ppl so narrow minded . just because she says that she does not need you help with christmas on the pecos does not make her a bad person . there are alot of other ways to help out in the community . |
||||
I just want you to know that we love your house on christmas on pecos . i think it is one of the childrens favorite |
||||
|
I think they should cash in and rename it Griswald on the Pecos.

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce is very generous to us in the ways that they can. We are given a half dozen tickets to be used any evening during Christmas On The Pecos. The also hold an appreciation dinner every year in September. I know they talk us up at every chance they get. Thanks Lisa! Thanks Mike!
Let me try this closing salutation again without the exclamation marks. Ho Ho Ho |

I'm excited there are willing homeowners to decorate their houses, spend the extra time and effort to do something worthwhile for the community of Carlsbad. There is no "silver lining" or stuffing pockets through this event....just merely supporting The Chamber of Commerce and supporting our community. I'm thankful for all of the many volunteers who go out in full force for Christmas on the Pecos....Christmas is a season of GIVING and many people give of their time, energy and resources to make this event happen. Christmas on the Pecos is a wonderful event that brings many people to Carlsbad to celebrate a special season!
