If the associates make such a huge difference in the lives of the seniors it serves, then why do they ask an employee who goes out of their way to make a difference to resign or be terminated. And the ones who verbally and physically abuse seniors still have jobs. Something wrong with this picture.

Abuse happening and ED's do nothing about it. Don't even talk with the resident. That is part of their job.

the ed I worked for at a Brookdale in Il. was the most incompetent, unfriendly, rude person I've ever met. While I was there he fired eight people,(some having over 10 years of experience.) They're bonus struction is such that it is almost impossible to achieve. Depending on the census for the month, prospective residents would be charged rates varying as much as $500.00.
the ED treated the assisted living residents as second class citizens and for the most part the residents spent most of the day sleeping in front of the TV.

I don't know about the assisted living in Brookdale . But I know some assisted living services which do their service sincerely. And I don't think like they are been treated like a second class citizen perhaps these kind of home care will teat them with love and care.http://www.prestigecare.c om/independent.php
