Brenda Pundt tried to do the same thing except pad her pension. Klemm has always been greedy and hopefully erie city council will refuse him. Hey Winarski, you arshhole, go back to the eastside. If Robie can't do the job, get rid of her.

Winarski huh? Doesn't surprise me he'd pull sh*t like this. Klemm was paid over $80,000 per year. To be the city clerk????? And now that he's retired pulling an obscene pension, Winarski wants to give him a grand a month?

What is Winarski going to get out of that deal? A kickback?

Even Curtis Jones wouldn't have tried that. Ian Murray on the other hand....

Typical Erie small time antics. City hurting, so just pad individuals pensions when the rest of us barely get a pension except for what we save on our own. What did Klemm do for the $82,000 salary he received?? I don't understand about organizing council matters and other items mentioned. Even paying hourly is too much, he is not that valuable and I am sure many other private sector individuals could consult for a fee and not cost as much. Thye could do it in a shorter time frame and get done what needed.

Other related government abuse is teacher pensions and benefits:
Agree with Brad Roae that for teachers and why they can't pay for own health insurance. Rest of us for most part pay a good amount of our paychecks. Instead of debating Mr. Roae, think about our City and its budget. Of course not, the teacher unions will play the poor card, as if teachers are hurting for money!!!

Break up the unions, what have they done for the community as a whole???

when i worked at city hall in 2006 and 2007 i implored the mayor to start training a replacement for jim, he has TONS of institutional knowledge from years of service that will be lost when he retires.

boom, he retires and all that knowledge gone. i like him a lot but no need to stay on for $1,000 per month.

he can probably tell you in which meeting tullio asked for this or when mario argued about that. he can find a law in seconds and knows exactly where to look or who to call. why the assistant city clerk wasn't trained or the office clerk groomed to learn more? who knows.

Agree with Mr. Roae on pensions huh? Are you crazy, that dude is always shooting from the hip, he never had any facts on any issues, absolutely none, the guy is uninformed on ever issue he brings up.
The teachers and state employees paid into their retirement plans, it is the state that didn't carry through with their financial commitment, both democrat and republican administrations were at fault.
Roae and the right wingers are good at using the quick catch phrases but they offer no workable solutions.

I heard Jones was the deciding vote.

So much for financial responsibility.

Witherspoon should have recused himself from the vote as he and Klemm are basketball and football officials together in the "good ole boy" network. Winarski doesn't think that 12,000 is that much but the actual number is 24,000 for two tears. Tell that to a mother with three children who is strugglng to make it. Klemm just went from 69.000 a year pension to 81,000 a year for two years. What a joke...Klemm always has been an aqzz kisser.

You wanted to be mayor, yet you can't write a proper sentence (capital letters)? Maybe you should of shown up at work, doing your job, not pontificating on others. That's probably why you got fired......excuse me "resigned".

You know what I would say to a struggling mother of 3 kids who can't make it? if you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em! Learn to swallow!

Government pension legacy costs will eventually kill the taxpayers. Federal, state and local (city, township, etc) pensions are way out of whack. Completely out of sync with private sector. Even so when pension funds get low, the government goes to the public funding well, raises taxes or worse yet borrows, and the legacy costs go on forever, unless the retiree passes away, which may be the only solution.

How many people in the private sector have the kind of pension and deal that this City "Clerk" has. Wow, and he is but one.

It's called corruption. They should have broomed his goldbricking ass years ago. Only in Erie does a do nothing city clerk get paid more than the mayor.

Winakrski, Witherspoon, Jones, and John Horan's idiot daughter.

Yeah, well good for you. Especially if you are in private sector. But are you really happy about paying a public "Clerk", with little or no real decision making responsibility over $80,000 a year in retirement benefits? If so rejoice each year as you pay the City the taxes for this outrage.

You probably think the Erie School District pensions are fair, like Barker and Scozie, both of which jacked up your taxes and left the District in financial shambles.
