Only 2000 bail?? WTF!

They are NOT behind bars!!! They're free as a bird because our fabulous Rutberg lowered the bail to $2,000! He needs to step down - he is the reason all these low lifes with guns are wandering our streets. Let them cool down behind bars until their court date. Same should have happened to the Cherry St. woman - she should be off the street and away from the people she threatened to harm. The Cloverdale St. incident is just too much! I wish the Grant family the best of luck, especially the son heading to Afghanistan. God Bless and take care. We are proud of you for risking life and limb so that others can be free. Your neighbors shouldn't have the freedom afforded by this country. Drugs and alcohol are behind every crime in some way. If only we could do something about that!

In nearby New York state these low lives would stay in jail until their court date and then they would be sent to stste prison but then again in New York they elect judges so the likes of Rutburg would be voted out fast.
Also it should be noted that there are several and I believe it is over one hundred empty bunks at the Berkshire County jail. There is no excuse for this garbage and it needs to end now.

And the judge let them go. How sad for the people injured, the officers at risk doing their job, and anyone else thinking they are protected by the courts of Berkshire County.

Rutberg has to go! How do we get rid of an appointed judge in this state anyway? Is it possible?

I bet bail would have been kept at $100,000 if these defendants lived next to this judge. I guess his thinking is "job security".

Wow and the truth comes out. I guess when your living life in an alcohol and drug induced state sometimes the facts become twisted and what looks insane by normal people seems completely logical to you. Coke, marijuna, guns and packaging material associated with the illicit drug trade. Say good bye. It seems you're not untoucable afterall. My favorite part was when they reffered to the house as dilapidated.

These people aren't behind bars, they're out on the low bail Rutberg set for them. Another good job by Freddie.

"John H. Tart, 33, was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly aiming a semiautomatic handgun at Grant and firing toward him, and for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at Kyle P. Maynard, a 19-year-old North Adams resident who was attending the Grant party.

Tart, who has a record of criminal convictions and defaults, was additionally charged with carrying a firearm without a license, illegal possession of ammunition and firing a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling."

He's walking the streets today. That's great.

Tart posted $2,000 cash bail for his release from the county jail Tuesday evening.

Let's see :
The whole police dept at Holiday pay scale,
half the State Police force at Holiday pay scale,
the Judge ( I'll give him the benefit of the doubt )at his normal exorbitant pay scale and these low-lives walk for $1000 bucks.
ps. the clerk had the bail amount set right, what are we paying these so called judges for?

I cannnot believe the guy is out on such a low bail - actually he shouldn't be out at all. That "judge" has no respect for the officers who had to deal with this situation and certainly has no concern for the family who was in effect terrorized. This "judge" needs to go.

We elected Republican Governors for 16 flipping years and ended up with extreme anti gun laws and a welfare state second only to California, which also has a Republican governor. We have had multiple Republican presidents recently and have the worst illegal immigrant problem we have ever had. Yeah, we have Obama now and, with some sane voting, he'll be gone soon but he hasn't been in office long enough to cause all the havoc we are experiencing. When will people get it? The problem is politics, politicians and a free fall government, not "liberal" or "conservative" anything. We need to stop blaming lines of thought, greedy corrupt politicians and the general idiocy and perversion of our constitution in governments, from local to national, and realise WE ARE THE PROBLEM! The buck stops here, at our door step. We allowed this country to become the abomination it is. "We have met the enemy and he is us." Pogo Possum.
At the very least, get out and vote. Stop being part of the problem and become part of the solution.
Just out of curiosity, what leads you to believe the "idiot" is a left winger, liberal etc?

Just think of this twisted logic: May be Mr. Grant's three request to Mr. Tart to stop the ATV riding in close proximithy to his dwelling could result in criminal harrassment charges brought against Mr. Grant! The logic is really that twisted (in the DA's office, that is).

There would be no drug crime if there were no drug customers. Using is not an innocent pastime--it's the reason today's society stinks. But when will we learn that prohibition doesn't work? Legalize it all, make it available in the liquor stores, tax the living sheet out of it, and unemploy the Tart brothers and the rest of the dirt bag dealers.

Saddly enough, this is a home where children are being raised and brought up to think this lifestyle is normal and acceptable. If anything, the children should be removed from the parental care for the drug and weapons charges alone. I personally do not know anyone involved, so my opinion is not based on emotion going one way or the other, me opinion is based on the facts as they have been presented and my concern is for the children being raised by complete imbecile's.

Rutberg is ridiculous!! Looking back I had 2 counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, 3 counts of violating a restraining order and 2 counts of intimidating a witness and what does Rutberg do........releases me on personal recog.!!!! All this after the D.A. asked him to hold me without bail until my court date......back then I thought Rutberg was the man....now I realize he's pretty pathetic for just making his court a revolving door!!...Put these scumbags in front of Vrabel or Koenings and watch each of them get carted back to jail....LUCK OF THE DRAW I guess

Well said April. It sounds like these people are the bowels of society. Obviously, the problem transcends the generations, so maybe if CPS could step in and save the next, society as a whole would benefit.
That's a laugh. The Alphabet Nazis only step in and take kids when there's no reason to! I thought everybody knew, it's only the kids who NEED to be removed that get to stay with the abusive, neglectful parents!
