Come on Editors. Give Chris Kuc and the Blackhawks a little credit.
They won an exciting game tonight and are weeks from the playoffs. Yet the world baseball classic, the Bears, the Sox, and the losing Bulls have their stories ahead of them. |

Doc, there's a reason the Trib is going broke.
I didn't get to see the game, but sounds like just what the Hawks needed: a win in a tough game against a good team. After the defensive fiascoes of the weekend, holding the opponent to 2 goals is great. The Hawks are showing the versatility to win with different styles rather than being limited to one kind of game. I don't think we have a realistic shot at the Cup this year--very young teams rarely do in the NHL--but it will be fun watching the kids in April, and May. |

The bull loses by 30 and that story gets more press than an exciting Hawks win. The bull is dead, long live the Hawk!

Boy, that late goal just about killed me. I was like, "NOOOOO! They can't lose this game!"
But.... the boys did a great job in the shoot out. I think this was their best performance in a shoot out this year. Not from a goalie perspective but from a shooters perspective. GO HAWKS!!! |

Have I mentioned that I hate shootouts!
The Toews, Kane, and Versteeg shootout goals are what we have that is exciting. The Brouwer and Versteeg goals, with tons of support, team wide, against a determined opponent, is what we'll need down the stretch. I love watching the kids on the bench. They have the body language of winners! "They're OUR kids, damnit!" |

That penality they called on toews was crap, even Frank Pellico was doing the B.S. thing on the organ. Oh well it was a team from the Eastern Conference that got the 1 point so no big deal.
Thanks alot Ruutu, you stunk it up when you played here, then you score at the end of the game to force OT and then in the shootout. That pissed me off. Still great to see them with the up tempo'd pace during the game. Keep it going it is going to be a race to the end of the season. |

Great win over a hot Carolina team that's loaded with offence. Both goalies played well to keep that score down in regulation. If the Hawks had lost, these boards would be filled with critics. They only crawl out after a loss, because that's their general outlook on life. Nice to see Khabby back and hopefully ready to get in the blue paint. Keep the feet moving boys! Go Hawks!

Very exciting game, and glad we pulled it out. You're right RamRod, shootouts scare me.....
The two goals that we let up last night were the direct result of breakdowns in our own end. Over the past 3 games, the amount of blowouts and turnovers in our own end is the main reason we are getting scored on.... I cannot fault Huet for last night, but more so, Campbell's blowout, not covering the backdoor, not clearing the puck when we get a chance, and not going "man to man" when a play breaks down. It was good to win, but I still beleive we are in a funk. The defensive play that has carried us to the 4th spot in the Western Conference is not there right now, period, and if it doesn't come back soon.... April might not be that fun.... |

And another thing.....we play Columbus tomorrow, HOW BOUT WE WIN ONE AGAINST A TEAM FROM OUR DIVISION!!
Ok, I'm done ranting, I really cannot wait for tomorrow, I will join the posters on this thread at the game and be sitting in the upper tank!! Can't wait!! |

Hey Tim, I just got a call and it appears the Hawks have frozen season ticket prices for next year. The way things are, that's great news! |

I just got the email as well. That is good to here. Too bad parking has gone up though.

Great win! Exciting game! Go Hawks!

This was as close to a playoff game as you'll get during the regular season. Great goaltending for both teams and a game that could have gone either way, though the Hawks deserved to win it and played just a tad steadier. Look forward to the weekend!!

great win last night. Versteeg and Kane were doing things on the ice that we havent seen from them in a long time.
Ill admit Huet played really good last night as well. Wouldv loved to see Ruutu this year play like this last year. I always loved that guys style of play. J.R. without the scorers touch. Good move freezing tix prices. Now if they just lower em a bit maybe i could afford to go with the family. thank you hdtv. |

Hey, Kuc...
Why no mention of who was in the box during Ruutu's late goal in the third period? Yes, it was Toews. Stupid play, borderline call, but definitely worth mentioning in the article. Hawk fans don't want anything sugarcoated or omitted. |

<Cheerleader hat on>
What funk? It's scary for some, what with the history of Blackhawk seasons to draw on, to see elements of the team stumble, in particular instances, and see it as something needing correction. REPEAT: This ain't your Granpa's Blackhawks! Throw history out! Look at the elements that got that win and figure that those are back to where they were, earlier in the season. Versteeg has me pumped. I don't know why being on wing makes such a difference, but I leave that to REAL hockey fans. Kaner is looking like the old Kaner, a very good thing. Bolland, Ladd, Burish, Eager and others are not necessarily lighting it up, but, THEY ARE WORKING THEIR B*U*T*T*S OFF! The "D", including Campbell, are making things happen, 99% of them good. The Ruutu goal came from 3 different guys failing to clear the puck from in front of Huet. IT HAPPENS. The Canes are good enough to take advantage of those things. I like the way "Q" looks, no matter why the camera seeks him out. He looks like a real coach! confident, poised and in control. "This is no biggee, so don't get rattled with your jockies in a bunch. Stay with it and git her done." Wish I could see that with other coaches in town. We WON! Snafus and all. Did I mention that I hate shootouts! Kids! You gotta love 'em. "They're OUR kids, damnit!" |
