Detroit Red Wings reduce Pittsburgh Penguins to crybabies

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Revived by a day's rest and the return of Pavel Datsyuk, the Red Wings reduced the Penguins to a bunch of petulant 2-year-olds Saturday while moving within one victory of claiming the Stanley Cup for the second successive season.

What horrible writing....you write like a little girl. Go write for Martha Stewart Living. I'm a woman, too, and I'm almost embarrassed to say that because I might be associated with the likes of you. You're obviously a dead wings fan and your article has no place on a Chicago website.

The momentum will changes for the Penquins on Game 6, Redwings scored on power plays.

One of the weirdest sports articles I have ever read. How about reporting on the game, instead of writing a features piece?

I can't believe your editor let you publish whatever that was you wrote. Talk about petulant and juvenile. Sheesh. Nice to see you sports people are staying classy.

Horrible, juvenile article. Trib wonders why circulation is dropping... Glad I don't pay to read this drivel.

Gosh, who cries more: the Pittsburgh Penguins or the frustrated Chicago Blackhawks fans who want SOMEONE to beat the big bad Red Wings for them!

It was an OPINION PIECE. That's Helene St. James' opinion. You all complained mightily but offered up no competing perspective.

Pens get a "pounding" just like the Hawks did in their last playoff game at the UC. Get the Cup out of the box for Tuesday night as the Wings will take care of business!

Actually it was Crosby and Malkin who were petulant and juvenile. THey both acted like spoiled children. Crosby's slash to Z's knee was indicative of just how poor a loser he is, and he is a loser.

The writer got it right, but should have known that Hawks fans who are probably largely pulling for the Pens didn't want to read it.

The Pens are slow learners...still learning a lesson that they should have learned last year.

Schooling will begin for the Hawks again in the fall.

I'll give her a 5 for style but a 10 for accuracy.
The big story for the Pens last night was their temper tantroms. It was just another example of why Bettman is foolish for making Crosby the NKL posterchild.
Bettman. I f you need a young canadian for a superstar posterchild my vote goes to Toews. He's a much better example for young hockey players growing up.
Cooke,Malkin, Crosby, Talbot acted like spoiled children having a hissyfit. Not like grown men at all. Hats off to the Wings for not lowering themselves to their standards!True Champions!

1) This was a poorly written article, done by a reporter who committed the cardinal sin of editorializing. I read the article, thinking someone's fifth-grader was masquerading as a journalist.
2) Speaking of school starting in the fall, there are the returning winless toothless Lions.
Red Wings should prevail this year, but the clock is ticking for them, next season. They won't keep it up forever.

Wow, that was embarrassing to even read. I'm not sure I've ever seen her write like this before. I'm kind of speechless. Disappointed in her and the paper for letting this go through.

there is a difference between class and immaturity-Pitt players have not grown into the game yet--they spurt and stumble and then make excuses--will they ever grow up!!!

Well spoken and so true, Pens and Hawks need to learns from the Wings they are great Hockey team and they are much more mature and calms which the Pens and the Hawks needs that in years to come. Don't envy them they are teaching you young teams to learn from them, yes I have seen live playoff games and that what I have seen.

Good luck Pens and Hawks next year!

The Red Wings are an experienced team, no doubt. They brought out the theatrics and overly embellished every hit, drawing the early penalties. Watch the previous 4 games and all that stuff went uncalled. That frustrated the Pens of course, leading to the the many penalties that followed. What was called "toughness" in game one turned into penalties in game 5. Inconsistent! I'd be frustrated too! The Wings should get an OSCAR, not a CUP!
