I agree, should be close. Also, I think DP is a top 10 goalie right now. However, I think he could get better if he wasnt so obsessed with playing the puck and just focused on stopping it. I watch alot of the Isles and very often I see him give up goals by being out of position because of this.
Thoughts?
Glad to see a Ranger fan paying attention, without just blindly yelling DP sucks hahahah

On a serious note, you are correct in what you are saying as his flaws. However he has gotten better deciding when to come out. He used to just come out on every play, where as now, it seems like he waits for a better opportunity. Either way his stick is VERY useful on the kill, and makes it hard for teams to dump it in on their PP.

I think that he's better off trying to be his own goalie and not the goalie that everyone says he should be. Even though he may have a couple of turnovers a game, the goals scored off those turnovers are rarely when he is out of position. Maybe 1 or 2 this season. He usually has time to get back into the play. Watching the forward for 1 or 2 more seconds isn't going to make that much of a difference so long as you can see the shot.
Plus, he's at least slowing the pace of the opposition's forecheck by clearing it. He also can help keep the power play fluid if the PK clears the puck, and he can throw head-man passes to spark the offense...he already has a couple of assists this season.
His goaltending stats are top 10 but could improve (his stats are still trying to get over that 6 goal stomping -- before they took him out) against the maple leafs.
Again, good post.........the 6 goal stomping is the exact reason why stats are hard to judge by. A few bad games and it throws off someones stats.
