Danis strong in goal but Isles lose to Pens, 1-0

Full story: Newsday 36
For 150 minutes and six seconds, Islanders goaltender Yann Danis was perfect. He hadn't given up a goal since a long shot by the Rangers' Scott Gomez bounced between his legs a week earlier. Full Story

<quoted text> I thought you were a big DP fan! You don't come back from hip surgery 100%, and there is less chance if you've had it twice, once on each hip. Danis played great last night, but we need real no. 1 goalie. Now the Rangers have the coach the Islanders should have had.
Danis is their #1 goalie. Ever heard of Wally Pipp?

As for last night; Okposo left it in the locker room, Bailey was of no impact whatsoever,Nielsen was nowhere to be seen, Bergenheim couldn't score on my grandmother, and she's dead, and Tambellini, well, he was Tambellini. As for defense, is Sutton in their plans for next season? Freddy Meyer?
Nobody can score on your grandmom if shes dead.

If youre being serious about KO-then you should switch sports. you obivously have no clue what you are talking about.

Second-KO-Bailey-Blake C. line played most of the game against the Pens top line.

Mike- I do like DP. Im just giving Yanni the credit he deserves. Also-let it go. You need to let it go. Scott Gordon is our coach and will be the coach next year.

The Islanders have to find a way to put the puck in the net. Defense is getting much better and Danis is showing that he can play goal. We just need some offense!

Ok, here's a thought. It's great we were able to get a 1st round pick from Ottawa for Campoli but let's look at this scenario that actually went down. Whitney (Pens) was traded for Kunitz (Anaheim). A Dman was traded for a goal scorer. Hmmmm...I'm wondering if that was investigated by Garth. I would have rathered Kunitz and a later round draft pick to be quite honest.

Exactly right. Brilliant trade by Shero. Probably could not have gotten the prospect too for Campoli, but Kunitz, the right age, with his very reasonable contract, would have fit right in. And considering the Ducks situation, with Pronger or Niedermeyer likely to go, a young gun like Campoli, with his contract, would have been a perfect match. Much better deal than the one Snow got.

Whitney is better than Campoli!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. He was replaced by Lou Gehrig. Ever hear of him? Danis is better than MacDonald, but still not on a par with the #1 goalies around the League.

Okposo had a bad night...even Bossy had a bad night once in a while. You're going to have to admit your favorite player is going to have an off night every so often. He fell down alot last night, and he doesn't belong on the point on the power play, as no shots on three power plays showed last night. He belongs in front of the net or at the hash marks. He has the talent to be a very good player. As for Gordon being back next season, don't depress me. I have enough problem watching the games now. It's not his fault that Gordon has him on the point. It could be two more season before we can truly see what he has. Just because you disagree with another on this site is no reason to slam him. Be better than that.

How if Albuquerque Mike stood his dead grandma up in front of the net, in full pads....Bergenheim still couldn't score! Give it a rest Batthead.

No, better than DiPietro. Watch his positional play. Luongo said something very interesting I thought when they were changing the rules for goalies. "Doesn't matter to me, all I'm going try to do is get my body in front of the puck." Brilliant explanation of the goalie's position. And Danis' positioning of late has been terrific -- that's why he's not giving up goals.

Danis as a young player will grow with the rest of the guys on this team, i also believe he will be the goalie of the very near future on a permanent basis, years ago there was a goalie on the Minn north stars named don beaupre, who stood only about 5'6 or 7, and someone asked him if he wasn't too small to play goal. he replied,
"i only have to stop the puck, i don't have to fight it, which was a clever quote.ps i agree danis is better then Mcd at this point in his developement.

Do I know you?

As for the bashing/slamming others comments...come on now. Its a message board...stop with the self-pity bit.

I'll agree the power-play sucked against the Pens. Im not saying KO doesnt make mistakes....but he conitues to play agressive and he hustles. If you watched the game-the play KO hustled for the loose puck in the Pens zone...skated around one guy and then Letang flew in only to get met by a shoulder from KO...that was a major collision...inwhich KO laid Letang on his back. Once KO adds that to his game....watch out!

Also Mike-since the season is a wash...why not try some different things...like playing KO at the point-or putting Witt in the front of the net.

FYI-as long as you continue to bash this team...their moves...the coach...and the GM...unless you make a valid point-I will have their backs!

If you like-list your address and I'll mail you a box of tissues the next time you allow a message board to offend you.
